do I? Hell yas!
Hopefully we'll get this era in an expansion this time around.
Yeah, that'd be excellent.
my eternal thanks to the EB team for making R:TW such an epic game, and to TWC and all other modders for pushing the boundaries with each Total War title.
Definitely one of the best ideas for an expansion.
Hopefully his faction will be called Roman and not byzantine.
falnk with cavlary. stay a way from muder hoels.
It's the only video I could find. And right after self-proclaimed romans they continued with "marched forth from the Byzantine capital of Constantinople..." I've never heard of anything more ignorant.
That entire Dark Ages series is rather light on facts, big on generalization probably just as well riddled with inaccuracies, but it's really all we have on TV could you recommend something else?

George Finlay's "History of the Byzantine Empire 765-1057" is a really good place to start. A master piece on the dozens of Roman emperors that is entertaining to read to boot. If you have an Ebook you can get a badly translated free version for the Nook at least.
But yes, the dark ages are full of missinformation, mainly that they were so dark. The high point of feudalish was far darker and stagnant period for the west than the dark ages. Sure it really sucked to be at the bottom of the chain, but there were still plenty of political advances and intruiges as well as the Roman empire being at it's peak in the east. Many vestiges and laws of the western half were still carried over a few centuries after tha collapes of the west.

The best expansion idea yet!
So... Basicly Rome 2: Barbarian invasion?
Rome 2: A Second Rome
"Romans, Senators, friends. Latium is firmly under the rule of the Senate and People of Rome. The Latin people are now one. Not since noble Brutus drove out the last king have we known such a glorious day. But now my friends, in this our of glory we must be on our guard! To the south, treacherous Greeks and Samnites block our trade. Tarquinii grows beneath a tryrant's heel. That tyrant threatens Rome! Will we abandon Tarquinii? And now Barbarians raid from the North, burning and pillaging Roman lands. Shall we let dager fester and grow? Or will we at as Romans with courage and dignity? Remember we are the Sons of Mars! As Senate leader I call upon tribunes Gaius Julius and Decius Brutus to smash the Gauls and releave Tarquinii. All those in favor say I!
Excluding a Rise of Rome campaign this is the best expansion idea so far.
Rome 2: Renovatio Imperii
Other good ideas for a DLC would be the Year of the 4 Emperors, Agricola's Campaign in Bretanha, Aetius campaigns, Gallienus, Diocletianus restoration of the empire with the tetraquia and soo on. Well there are a lot of good ideas. The problem with Justinian's campaign is that we wouldn't hold for to long the reconquered territories once after Belisaurus vanquished the barbarians he didn't hold them for to long, it was impossible and besides before the second army arrived Africa the first one sunk lol.
The year of 4 emperors idea is great, especially considering the fact that CA is implementing the trait system for legions and trying to make the game more personal. Another good idea for DLC around the Principate period could be the Dacian Wars or the Crisis of the Third Century.
The way to do Justinian's Conquests I think would be to implement many, many turns per year.
Once again the 4 emperors idea is great someone should make a thread about it.
Isn't it the point of the game to have a challenge? I personally wouldn't run the empire like Justinian.
I'd be for an expansion on the Tetrarchy, some make a topic.
