This seems to be a perfect fit for the Total War Modding community. Effortless installation of mods, many more people would see how great the mods are. What do you think? I can't really think of any downsides to using it.

Yeah, but they wouldn't allow certain stuff if it has a potential to be a copy write issue. So stuff like third age and westeros: total war wouldn't be allowed. It's the reason most people just go to the nexus instead of using steamworks for skyrim.

EDIT: also nudity isn't allowed, so no naked fanatics!

My first serious attempt at modding was making my naked fanatics actually naked, I was so hard.

Hope you meant It instead of I was hard, wood from 3d clones is sort of weird and kinky at the same time.

If it makes developing mods and releasing easier then so be it. For example with something like TEd whicbh we have for Shogun 2 it will be nice if once done there's a function where the map we created can be uploaded easily and any further updates of the map will also be automatically downloaded to those who have downloaded the map.

In 2004 BFME had this feature for custom battles, map makers could host a game on their map and players joining the game would automatically download it to their computer, not having to do anything else.

I think the same would be nice for the mp campaign.

Yes. This is currently the same with TEd created map for Shogun 2. However it is nice to have a place like steam workshop where many more people can upload and browse for maps.

No, Steamworks causes alot of problems for the Skyrim modding community because while it is nice to just have everything done for you through Steamworks, the mods don't have nearly the scale of Nexus mods for example, and alot of the naughty stuff is banned :3
