Steam: RS 2 Starts, then crashes

Hello gentlemen,

Let me begin by saying that I have gone to multiple threads in this section with problems similiar to mine, attempted to follow the fixes, and have goen to this thread-

I also followed Paedric's very nice Steam installation video. But, when I try to start up RS2 through the launcher or through Steam, it gets to the RS2 splash screen, and then proceeds to crash straight to desktop.

As one can imagine,it's quite frustrating.

Ill go back to square one and do a clean reinstall, but I have just about given up...I really don't want to though, cause this mod looks fantastic and make RTW really fresh.

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

What's already encouraging is that the launcher is working, that's usually the biggest issue with Steam.
Is there an error message when the game crash? Even something like RTW has stopped working?

Also, if you open the launcher, do you have -show_err written in the box in the bottom right corner?

And lastly, you should try to disable the boom for now. In the launcher, click on the bloom box, and select none.

Nope, no error message

It did

Never enabled bloom

I am regretting losing my RTW CD now :_(

I'm afraid that in this case a total re-install is going to be necessary.
I have no idea why it's doing that when it shouldn't.

Ok, so I did a total reinstall, installed RS2-and now when I try to run it through steam, I get the error 'Could not find Steam'. The spalsh screen does not come up, and the launcher doesn't start anything now either.

There is the possibility that I screwed up the install.
