Default I sure hope there's no religious/political conversion like FoTS.

I know some people like these features, but to me it just slows down the game. I don't find it makes anything more strategically challenging, just slower. Conquer, now wait until percentage of (religion, political group, etc) reaches certain percentage, then move on.

That kind of stuff should just be calculated into generic "resistance to occupation" figures rather than require me to create specific buildings, or put units there to convert populace. I know it's somewhat realistic. I know it happened in history, but it's not something I want to do while playing a military game.

I don't think it will play a role in Rome 2, unless they introduce some sort of cultural resistance depending on how much direct control you want to exert over a particular province.

In BI2 I'm sure they'll have religion mechanics.

Roman Republic conversion to Roman Empire perhaps? So yes, it should be available!

    Yeah what Drtad said

For R2, only cultural conversion makes sense.

But for BI2, there will have to be some sort of religious, political conversion.

Having said that, this religious conversion mechanic does not necessarily has to be the boring "Watch the Percentage Arrows" game. I really think they could spice this mechanic up more to make it interesting and crucial strategically.

For example, in ETW: Warpath campaign. I found it very unrealistic how fast a Protestant region turned into Animism or vice versa.

Yeah, it never really feels immersive, or challenging...it's more of a nuissance that always lingers as an obvious game mechanic that gets in the way of fun.

Under the old republic (corrupt), many commoners hated their rulers and were easy converts for any dictator wanting power .. but that wasn't religous related.

Although Christianity did make it's mark in Rome (out with the old, in with the new .. no matter how stupd)

I'd like the ability to convert characters to your cause, but I don't see the purpose of having conversion of the common people.
If you rep me, leave your name. I'll look more kindly on your future transgressions.

Culture should be the only converted percentage mechanic. If anything, it would represent both political and religious sentiment, so it's not like anyone's left SOL.
