    Default You do know it's 12 months to release?

    Right?

    And 20 pages of threads. lol

    Admit it - it's more fun than the games themselves, yes?

    Nothing wrong with that.......but how many threads will there be by the time of release? Funny.

    To be, or not to be: that is the question:
    Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
    The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
    Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
    And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;
    No more; and by a sleep to say we end
    The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
    That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation
    Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep;
    To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub;

    And this is one pointless thread, which will hopefully be locked soon and end up in the last few pages in a couple of months...

    That's what I was going to say. You do not know what's at risk about this game, it could be the best game ever, or it could be the biggest disappointment in video game history.

    I think it's in safe hands. CA revolutionised the wargame when they released the first TW - Shogun - and now they're going to revolutionise their own concept, with Rome 2.

    I don`t know how someone can be continuously excited about something a year and a half before release. The only reason i see for posting on it is in the hope of getting CA to make changes \avoid changes before it`s too late, like allowing a Steam-Free option, keeping the game realistic, etc.

    Chances are the end release will probably have a lot of upset people who put RTW2 on a pedestal - Oh and those who will dumbly pre-order.

    Again.

    I like first option ...the best game ever

    The reason there are so many threads is because of all the people hoping CA will
    listen to their suggestions and put them into the game.

    And of course because of all the pro/anti-historical accuracy flamewars

    There are a lot of threads because this is the most interesting game CA has done since.. the original RTW. I don't mean just the timeline they are setting it in, but for people who played medieval and then played RTW, RTW changed almost everything and made the series 100x better.

    medieval 2-shogun 2 all added new touches like a new engine and gameplay features here and there, but didn't change up a whole lot. I think they are looking to revitalize the series with this one, hence the 40% increase in budget and all the stuff they've talked about thus far. The fun comes in on speculating what they haven't talked about.

    So what? Can't stop us fanboyz from drooling over it, obsessing over every little bit and morsel, critiquing CA's development of R2 to Hell and back, and back again

    I just hope CA really listens to these boards, especially the veteran voices who have something tangibly substantial to say (I find myself mostly agreeing with what these venerable TWC vets propose for improvement)

    I think it's interesting to see all the new faces new titles bring to TWC.

    rasic, thanks, you helped clarify something of my point.

    And yes, modding is surely the primary concern - fancy graphics and bugs are a given but modding isn't.

    It's amusing how every iteration is expected to be the Holy Grail of Gaming, at least until release. Don't people learn anything at all? (I think I learnt this when Dinky Kong for the Oric1 finally showed up in the post......1983.....what a game.)

    I think I'll try keeping this thread on the front page for as long as development takes. [see - it's a long time isn't it?]

    Hey there last_name_left, I just linked your thread, to another thread wouldn't you know? Also expousing the virtues of a little constraint.

    To the expansive, communicative collective…
    Guys there’s a very long time to go, such a massive, protracted, onerous, time before release.
    I’m genuinely not striving to be a party pooper here, but seriously get a calendar.
