    Great idea for a thread!

    Hand of the King: Stannis Baratheon (Strong man who does not bend, ideal Hand of the King, would bring order to the small council meetings)
    Master of Coin: Tyrion Lannister (With his Lannister connection and talent in the Game, he would do a fine job)
    Master of Law/The King's Justice: Eddard Stark ("The man who passes the sentence should swing the sword")
    Master of Whispers: Doran Martell (If there's one person in Seven Kingdoms who can rival Varys and Littlefinger in creepines it's this guy with his gout)
    Master of Ships: Victarion Greyjoy (Experienced sailor and commander)

    Commander of the City Watch: Sandor Clegane (Loyal dog for a brutish job)

    The Kingsguard: Barristan Selmy, Lord Commander
    Jamie Lannister
    Loras Tyrell
    Brienne of Tarth

    No doubt about that, Tywin would have been my choice as well except the fact that he'll help you as long as it helps the rise of house Lannister. I'm pretty sure somewhere down the road he'll try and place himself and his house above the king. Tyrion has most of his father's wits and would work for the king rather than for his House.

    Grand Maester:Aemon Targaryen (nuff said)
    Master of Coin: Wyman Manderly (where did he get all that money to build ships and find a chef that specializes in frey pies)
    Master of Ships: Davos Seaworth (the only one who had a bad feeling about blackwater)
    Master of Whisperers: Bloodraven (trees are crows FTW)
    Master of Laws: Stannis Baratheon (old skewl stannis, before he started contradicting himself with his actions, burning folks and kinslaying)
    Commander of the City Watch: Donal Noye (the guy can kill a giant so some dodgy men of the watch would'nt be an issue to manage)

    Rationale- I want mainly people who can be loyal, and am willing to compromise my small council's skills for the sake of stability.

    Queen of Westeros- Arianne Martell

    Hand of the King- Stannis Baratheon, Lord of Storm's End (Capable, respected, and utterly loyal and just)
    Grand Maester- Luwin (considered Aemon, but this is a time to focus on stability and I am unsure how well Aemon will work with his family's destroyers.
    Master of Coin- Peter Baelish, lord of Harrenhal (I trust Littlefinger and Varys to somewhat balance each other out and he is the most capable candidate by far)
    Master of Ships- Asha Greyjoy (Capable, as the Ironborn are, but not a violent maniac, as they are not generally, and can be trusted, seems well-liked by her men)
    Master of Whisperers- Varys (Again, trusting he and Littlefinger to balance each other out)
    Master of Laws- Tyrion Lannister, Lord of Dragonstone (Intelligent, loyal enough to those who respect, best kept out of the public eye a bit)
    Commander of the City Watch- Davos Seaworth (This way he doesn't have to command nobles, which could give him problems, but I have somebody whose loyalty is unquestioned guarding my capital)
    (New Position)
    Marshal of the Royal Armies- Randyll Tarly (I think the royal armies need somebody capable in command, and as I plan on somewhat alienating Tywin Lannister, it makes sense to cultivate friendship with the Tyrells)

    Lord Commander of the Kingsguard- Barristan the Bold
    Knights of the Kingsguard
    Barristan the Bold
    Loras Tyrell
    Balon Swann
    Oberyn Martell
    Brienne of Tarth
    Sandor Clegane
    Jorah Mormont

    Warden of the West- Tywin Lannister
