    Default modifying damage

Just been playing as the byzantines, and after conquering palermo, there was a few single unit stacks wondering around still, so i gave my archers a run out.

    Maygar Cavalry (x1)
    Cavallari (x1)
    Toxataes (x2)
    Mounted Acrite (x1)

I am impressed by the javelins and there damage stats.

But I am frequently let down with archers.

I know the toxatae are basic archers, and archers in general are meant to thin the ranks before cavalry or infantry enage, but I cant help thinking that I'd like a bit more punch to them.

I'm not suggesting it be patched or anything, as I'm likely alone in this, so instead i ask how to change the damage values, or just the folders that the values are in, so i can do it myself.

    Thanks

EDIT: And is it possible to add a second name to the english in the early campaign, as I think it should be Plantagenet, but i just get a first name.

    Thanks

The first bolded number there is their bow damage. The second bolded number is their melee damage.

And I'm not exactly sure what you're asking with your second question.

    Thanks for the first.

In the late campaign, my family members start with a first name, and a sure name (I.e. David Plantagnenet)

But in the early campign, my family members only have a first name and no surname (I.e. David)

If they are faction leader, faction heir, or they receive an epithet, their surname will not show.

Nope, just normal family members. Theres Prince X and King Y, but the family members have no surname.

    character_record Matilda, female, age 61, dead 10, never_a_leader

    relative Henry Beauclerc, Edyth, end
relative William, Matilda, Robert Curthose, Adela, Rufus, Henry Beauclerc, end
relative Stephen de_Blois, Adela, Stephen, end

It appears that they haven't been given surnames in the English early era family tree (well, only Henry I, Robert, and Stephen have). Also, the starting surname is a bit tricky - it isn't Plantagenet, not yet; Matilda hasn't married Geoffrey le Bei/Plantagenet (she hasn't even been born ). William himself should be something like de_Normandie (that would be coded, the display name would be 'de Normandie'). Make sure England actually has de_Normandie as a surname in descr_names.txt (it is present in the game, but all my modding of the names list means I can't remember if England has it by default in SS 6.4).

William's children don't necessarily need his surname (which is where we get into the more advanced side of family tree coding and how surnames are inherited in the game).

For what it's worth, both Henry (king) and Robert (heir) will have children who inherit their surnames, and display these. However, because William hasn't been given a surname, any children of his who are not king or heir will not display anything but their forename (because they have no actual surname).

You should head to the tutorials section of the mod workshop, plenty of family tree tutorials there, including this one: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=187293.

You should recruit Mourtatoi, they pack a lot of punch to units and are always dependable too. And they also deploy stakes so they are a bit resistant to cavalry.

Thanks, I'll have to go through the guide tomorrow, too late to read all that now

I raised all archer ranged attack stats by +1, seems to make it a little more range based (but thats how I prefer it)
