Default Faction - The Deku Tribes

    The Deku Tribes

    Main Color: Dark Green
    Religion: Lesser Deity Worship
    Culture: Naturalistic
    Rival Factions: Lizalfos
    Cordial Factions: None

    Strengths, Weaknesses, and Abilities:
    - Varied Species: The Deku Scrubs are composed of creatures from all manner of environments, as such they usually have terrain advantages in most situations.
    - Seed Eaters: All Deku Scrubs are able to eject seeds from a distance, effectively making every Deku unit a ranged attacker in addition to their fighting discipline.
    - Eager Fighters: Deku Scrubs are naturally angry and eager for battle. They usually excel at surprise attacks and temporarily scaring an enemy until they realize who their attackers are.
    - Cowards: Deku Scrubs are just as eager to run like pathetic cowards from as fight as they are to charge into a fight head on.

How to Unlock in Campaign: Complete a short Campaign as the Kokiri or a Long Campaign as any faction.

Amongst the many verdant forests of Hyrule one is bound to run into a Deku Scrub. These creatures are many and their appearance as varied as their habitats. All Deku Scrubs have several things in common though. They are very small, roughly one to two feet in height, they all have some form of flower or flora on their heads, and they are all capable of storing seeds and nuts and firing them out of their iconic snouts as projectiles. Because of their small size and the universal notion that they are pests, Deku Scrubs are looked down upon and over time have become a largely aggressive and angry people. Even amongst themselves they often fight, and as a unified empire they are only held together loosely by a supreme king. Each Deku Tribe usually contributes different things to an overall army should war come to their people. Because of their loosely aligned nature and wide variety of cultures, a Deku army is usually composed of many different types of Scrubs. Virtually all Deku Units are ranged to a degree, and because of their small size and affinity for the land they usually have tremendous bonuses when fighting amongst flora. Despite their variety and skill fighting in different landscapes, the small size and selfish nature of each Deku makes them a very weak combatant individually that's more likely to flee then stand and fight. A Deku army must usually keep their distance when fighting, as very few Deku Scrubs are willing to charge into an enemy force head on. Even though the Deku Scrubs are fearful creatures, a properly maintained army of their kind can wear down even the toughest of armies from a distance.

    Forest Scrubs

Undoubtedly the most numerous and common type of Deku Scrub, the Forest Scrubs populate almost every verdant spot of Hyrule. Short in stature and mind, Forest Scrubs tend to be easily excited and angered like most of their race. While they may be tiny and weak, in the right conditions a group of Scrubs can ambush and beat down an unsuspecting enemy before they knew what hit them.

    Pine Scrubs

Native to the southern mountains near Ordon, the Pine Scrubs have grown in the higher and colder climates. This has made them very hardy and durable, especially in weather conditions that would normally kill most other Deku races such as snow. In battle they can hold out without tiring much longer then most of their brethren, and the addition of their spiky tops serves as a convenient makeshift weapon in a melee.

    Yucca Scrubs

Native to the arid lands of Hyrule, the Yucca Scrubs grew in regions with little water to support them. Their bodies thus are optimized to store large amounts of water inside and use very little. This not only means the Yucca Scrubs can travel longer distances without tiring, but they can build up more pressure inside their snouts to fire projectiles much further then the average Scrub.

    Fungi Scrubs

Among the rarest of the Scrub family, these denizens of subterranean Hyrule rarely have reason to come up to the surface. When threatened though, the Fungi Scrubs are masters of hiding and striking from where you least expect. Unlike their brethren that need flowers to burrow into, the Fungi Scrubs can dig almost anywhere and hide until an unfortunate soldier happens to step on it's head.

    Lily Scrubs

Occasionally found drifting down the rivers of Hyrule, the Lily Scrubs are probably the most passive of the Scrubs. They prefer to sleep most of the day, with their bodies submerged and their pad exposed to the sun. They are not the best of fighters, but their pad is a fair substitute for a shield and their ability to traverse across large bodies of water makes them ideal scouts.

    Royal Scrubs

The self proclaimed leaders of all Scrub-kind, the Royal Scrubs believe themselves superior to their brethren. This is likely because unlike most Scrubs they possess arms, undoubtedly a superior advantage even if their brains might not be as large as some of their armless cousins. With their race fractured in many warring tribes, the Royal Scrubs have made it their goal to unite their race in a coalition of peace, peace enforced and dictated by only them of course.

    Magnolia Scrubs

Quite possibly the rarest member of the Scrub family, these angry giants are well known for their rampages regardless. Able to swallow objects larger then a Goron, these scrubs often consume huge boulders to spit at whatever unfortunate creature happens to pass by. The various Deku Tribes treat these members much like animals and have done their best to domesticate them by directing their fire at enemy armies rather then themselves.

    Peahats

A rightfully feared predator that stalks the great open plains of Hyrule, the Peahats are nothing short of certain death for whatever end up as its prey. A giant plant like creature who's roots have adapted to blades, the Peahat can rapidly rotate itself into a crude but makeshift propeller, granting it limited flight. The relation between the Peahat and Deku Scrubs is unknown, though the Scrubs have and can field these monstrosities in an army should they feel the need to do so.

    Deku Baba Patch

A reflection of Deku Scrub extremity, entire gardens of these vicious and carnivorous plants dwell within their cities. While they are not very practical as a means of beautifying their settlements, Deku Babas are a creative means of defense when the Scrubs are invaded by enemies. A patch of Deku Babas can spring up underneath an enemy army for a nasty surprise attack.

    Orhat

Giant insects native to the eastern forests, Orhats spend most of their day in underground nests minding their own business. When the Deku Tribes need to invade an enemy city however, they entice these giant insects to fire giant boulders from their abdomens at enemy walls.

    Business Scrub

Wealth is very important to Deku Scrubs: it's one of the many things that helps them be remembered by their brothers and sisters. Business Scrubs have given up selling merchandise amongst their own kind and instead seek other avenues to fortune amongst the other races of Hyrule.

    The Deku King

Amongst the Scrubs, uttering the name of royalty is a death sentence. Amongst non Scrubs, Deku names are incomprehensible and unpronounceable. As such prominent figures in the Tribes are referred to by their titles and accomplishments rather then name. The recently appointed Deku King more then makes up for his short stature with bravado and ambition. Exterminating everything that mocks him, he's come the closest to uniting the quarreling tribes into a cohesive fighting force by pointing fingers at the other races of Hyrule rather then themselves.

    The Deku Princess

The daughter of the recently deceased Deku King, the unnamed Princess has fallen into a deep depression over the mysterious death of her father and rise of the new Deku King, whom plans on marrying her. At one time she was an angry and furious individual as most of her kind is, but recent events have tempered her and opened her eyes to the world. She'll stop at nothing to find out who killed her father, even if it means war with the other races of Hyrule.

Eh, I'd rather not. Even though it's not the case in Neph's mythos, the Zuna appear to be cacti people, so it would get confusing.

I'd not mind some more insects somewhere in the roster.

Snap dragon would fit the wizzrobes more in my opinion seeing as they were created by a failed experiment by alchemists.

    @Zectorman

Since you have posted ten minutes, I will now post ten seconds of the adorable Digletts/Dugtrios. These guys are what Deku Scrubs could be if they weren't angry jerks. They would be lovable!

    ... Nein.

Anyways, I assume you already know that Orhats have the Peahat's description in game?

Yes. On to something more helpful. Like... uh...

Now that I think about it, why doesn't the voice of Odolwa command these annoying bugs?

    Arise, my army!

So I never noticed this since I play the Dekus very little (Starting to now), but since you have the Voice of Odolwa, will Oldolwa himself be with the Dekus?

And on an unrelated note, are there any plans for more units from the Royal Scrubs? Being the only ones with arms should let them be more than just Spearmen.

EDIT: In fact, the Voice of Oldolwa could lead a troop of "Oldolwa's Chosen" who could be a wild and religious group of Royal Scrubs, with the Chant ability to help with the Deku's poor morale.

    Okay, I just noticed this...

I love how you basically made puns and references out of every captain name in this faction., i.e. Foos Row Da, and Oh Hai Mar. xD

    Pikit

    http://zelda.wikia.com/wiki/Pikit
Pikits are enemies from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. They are small, hopping plant-like creatures appearing in several locations around the Dark World. Their bodies are orange, and when one opens its mouth, a long, spiky tongue, capable of stealing items from Link, extends from it. Pikits can only steal items Link can replace, such as Rupees, Bombs, Arrows, the Fighter's Shield, and the Red Shield.
we could have this unit be a Ranged unit. with the spiky tongue a ranged attack. instead of stealing, they would have a high chance of taking prisoners.

    Snap Dragon

Snap Dragons are enemies from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. They are found in the Dark World and usually roam freely, never appearing in dungeons. Their only form of attack is randomly running diagonally, attempting to bump into Link. Snap Dragons resemble large dragon-like mouths full of sharp teeth, opening and closing as they run. Their mouths make up most of their body, aside from their feet and leaves.

According to the game's instruction manual, Snap Dragons were created during a Mad Alchemist's plant experiment.
even though they were a plant experiment. they could be recently tamed. or convinced to work together like the Wolfos-Kokiri alliance. this could be the equivalent of a mount or cavalry unit for the Deku Tribes.

This would make for an interesting unit, but I don`t think it would work because about all of the Deku units are ranged, and they might feel a lot like their other units. It might also be hard to make their tongue ranged.

I think this is a great idea for the Deku since they don`t have cavalry at all. I would picture it having high attack, low defense, and about average charge and morale. What type of Deku Scrubs do you think would ride these?

They could be a close Ranged unit with capable melee. they would have a ranged attack that looks like a spiky tongue coming out. the projectile animation would have a 2 part trail. 1 would disappear before the other. giving the illusion that the spiky tongue is retracting.

they may be set loss like dogs. and not have a actual rider.
