    Default Faction - Ordona Province

    Ordona Province

    Main Color: Dark Yellow
    Religion: Strict Goddess Worship
    Culture: Civilized
    Rival Factions: Moblins, Lizalfos
    Cordial Factions: Kingdom of Hyrule

    Strengths, Weaknesses, and Abilities:
    - Cavalry Breeders: Ordona Province is well known for their horses and goats, both which grant Ordona the best cavalry in all of Hyrule.
    - Ancestral Farmers: Ordona Province was founded as a farming nation and continues to be to this day. Ordona Farms provide a higher yield of income in the campaign compared to those of other empires.
    - Lower Class: Most Ordonians are dirt poor farmers and peasants, and only know basic fighting techniques. As such they are not skilled for full scale warfare.
    - Winter Born: The long winter seasons of Ordona Province have made the Ordonians adapt to the cold. Ordonians excel at combat in snow.

How to Unlock in Campaign: Complete a short Campaign as the Kingdom of Hyrule or a Long Campaign as any faction.

The Ordonians are a humanoid race that are often mistaken for Hylians at first glance. Upon closer inspection, one notices that they lack the pointy ears of Hylians and instead have rounded ones. The origin of the Ordonians is unknown, though many claim that at one time they were Hylians, while others say they are the descendants of the lost Kingdom of Ikana. Whatever the case, Ordonians are able to have children with Hylians, though the birth always results in a child with rounded ears. For this reason marriages between Hylians and Ordonians are treated carefully, as fear of the Hylians being exterminated via breeding is all too common. The Ordonians themselves are a much more simple people then the Hylians, and are well known for their vast farming nation to the south of Hyrule. While they worship the Goddesses rigorously, the chief deity of the Ordonians is the mysterious goat-like being known as Ordona, hence the origin of their name. They grow crops and breed both goats and horses that are then sold to a vast majority of Hyrule's other races, particularly the Hylians. It's for this reason that many consider the Ordonians a sub-servant nation of the Kingdom of Hyrule, and thus their political title of Ordona Province. Officially the Ordonians have no standing army. Unofficially, many Ordonians are willing and know how to fight and have makeshift forces always on standby. Years of fending off the Moblins of the west have made them a very strong people, and when their farms are threatened one should never be surprised to see a sudden army of pitchfork armed Ordonians charging at the aggressors. Because of their agricultural roots, the Ordonians are masters at breeding horses and fighting on them in combat. Without a doubt they have the best cavalry in all of Hyrule. Despite their superior advantage on horseback, the Ordonians' lack of true professional training mean that many of their soldiers fight with dirty and unrefined styles. Fighting in melee against a well trained force will likely result in their farmers being outclassed and beaten by pure skill. Even without proper training, the iron will and determination of an Ordonian army is rightfully feared by whatever force makes the terrible mistake of marking Ordona Province an enemy.

    Ordonian Farmers

Living in the farming nation of Ordon is a rough life, and the simple farmers are more then ordinary civilians. Fending off periodic Moblin attacks has made the Ordonians a tough people, and when times are dire they can call upon their vast network of peasants to raise arms against invaders.

    Farmer Archers

Archery and hunting is a common pastime in Ordona Province, and hunting festivals in the Faron Woods are notable events in their culture. When times of conflict are upon them, Ordonians take their skill hunting game and focus it on hunting enemy soldiers. These farmers enter the battlefield with bows and arrows, and while not as heavily armored as more professional grade archers, their lifelong skills can guarantee a more accurate hit.

    Mounted Farmer Archers

Horses and livestock are the center of the Ordonian culture, economy, and life. When the Province is threatened by an enemy force, they are usually met with a wall of cavalry before anything else. Like their dismounted counterparts, the Farmer Archers are lightly armed but well versed in ranged combat. Naturally they have the added bonus of riding a horse.

    Ordona Militiamen

In the larger Ordonian villages, professional grade blacksmiths work to arm the soldiers in the area. During raids against these towns and their neighboring settlements these citizens can be armed in no time and rushed into a firefight. Armed with an Ordon sword, shield, and light suit of armor, these soldiers can hold off an enemy force until the cavalry arrives.

    Ordona Horsemen

The main muscle of Ordona Province's military arms, the horsemen are well versed in riding their mounts and are the undisputed best cavalry in all of Hyrule. Not only are they fast, but the riders are well armed and armored for being considered light cavalry. Unless a potent force of spearmen or fast archers are in their ranks, enemy armies should keep clear of the Ordona Horsemen or risk being trampled utterly to death.

    Lumberjacks

On the northeastern border of Ordona Province lays the Faron Woods. The realm of Faron has served as a hunting ground and a major source of supply for construction. Countless lumberjacks harvest the sturdy trees of the Faron Woods and then ship them off to be built into many of structures used by the Ordonians. While chopping down the forest is their main duty, these hardened men can also use their hatchets to chop down an enemy army.

    Rangers

Along the western border of Ordona the Blin homeland looms, and it is common for them to send in raiding parties to pillage, rape, and destroy the inhabitants of the Province. To give early warning to these strikes, the Ordonian Rangers were formed. In their founding the Rangers were only to be female and to serve as a warning beacon to warn male soldiers of incoming attacks. As time went on and their numbers grew these female combatants became skilled in both the bow and the sword. In battle they can run circles around an enemy army and pelt them with arrows, and if things get dire they can unsheath swords and fight in melee.

    Shepherd Flock

The goats of Ordona Province are the iconic symbol of their society, and they are so integral to their lives that they are considered sacred. While the goats provide food, manual labor, and excellent lawn control, they are most notable for their habit of being easily angered. In a battle shepherds can antagonize these ungulates and guide a charge right into an enemy force.

    Goat Lords

Veterans to the conflicts that have befallen Ordona Province, these warriors have gone past their horse riding mastery in favor of taming the Ordon Goats as mounts. Donned in a suit of plated armor, the already tough Ordon Goats are now virtually unstoppable in a charge and a tough creature to bring down in melee. If any foe hopes to face these combatants then their best bet is to take out the rider.

    Hawkmen

Many creatures native to Ordona Province have been domesticated and turned into livestock by the Ordonians, though the Faron Hawk has been one such beast that has not ended up in such a role. The Hawkmen of Ordon have instead trained these avian creatures to serve as scouts and support units in combat. While small and not very durable, the Hawks' ability to fly and dive bomb on enemies makes them a very good unit to set up distractions and damage enemy morale.

    Ordona Catapult

While it is decorated with giant Goat Horns, catapults used by Ordona Province are simple and straightforward. When an enemy walls their forces behind defenses Ordona Catapults can tear down those walls given enough time.

    Ordona Salesmen

These individuals are merchants that decided to take their business to other cultures rather then amongst the farms of Ordona Province. Ordona Salesmen are able to bring in income from trading various resources and setting up shops in foreign cities.

    Mayor Bo

Living most of his life as a simple farmer, Mayor Bo was elected head of Ordona Province for his speaking skills and ability to lead. He is a very protective man and this is reflected in his political stance. Despite this he's very interested in foreign culture and it is rumored that he lived amongst the Gorons at one point of his life. In battle Mayor Bo fights on the back of a Goat with a group of other Goat Lords.

    Rusl

A prominent resident and well known figure of Ordona Province, Rusl has worked hard to assure that his nation is up to fighting status should the Moblins attempt to invade from the west. He goes from village to village, training young men and women basic sword fighting techniques that he believes will save their lives in the future. His goal is to one day establish a permanent school to train his very own branch of Ordona Knights. In battle he fights with a simple Ordon Sword and is accompanied by a group of soldiers in training.

    Ilia

The daughter of Bo, head Mayor of Ordona Province, Ilia is held in high regard by the people of her nation. Ilia's affinity for horses is well known, and it's her goal to one day prove she's a better rider and breeder then even the legendary Malon. She's not one to go looking for fights, but Ilia's also known for being easy to temper into anger and hostility, especially when her horses are involved. In battle she rides on top of a horse and uses a simple farmer sickle to fight with.

    Annara

The current head of the Ordona Rangers, Annara's served most of her young life defending the borders of the Province from Moblins and other hostile creatures. She claims to be the illegitimate daughter of Malon, though there is no proof of such a claim. Regardless, her skill at hunting and archery are second to none. In battle Annara prefers to ride on horseback and pick off enemies from afar with her longbow, though she can close into melee and fight with an Ordon Sword.

    Elder Goats

While many Goats of Ordon die at a fairly natural age from sickness and the elements, few do manage to live long past such a time. It is said in many old legends that the Elder Goats would arrive to defend those that only prayed to the Spirit of Ordona for help. Found deep in the southern mountains of the Province, these rare and giant ungulates are often considered blessed with long life by the spirit of Ordona himself.

About Ordona, what exactly is there relation towards the Kingdom of Hyrule, they see the Hylian monarch as there leader or do they see themsleves as independent ruled by the mayors and goat lords, or a sort of autonomous province of Hyrule. Also compared to Hyrule they seem to be very egalitarian with women having just as many rights as men by serving as soldiers, generals (Ilia), and there are probably female goat lords and mayors as well. So perhaps this could a sense of tenison between Hyrule and Ordona the Hylian government finds it disturibing and immoral that women are serving in the Ordonaian army and thus tries to bully the province into becoming more integrated with Hyrule.

Sorry for the long rant, Ordona is one of my favorite factions in the campaign and want to see more done for them. Also Neph when are the Elder Goats going to be in the campaign nothing I want to more then smash the Moblins with elephant size goats .

Ordona Province has it's own government and operates autonomously from the Kingdom of Hyrule. In return for autonomy, protection, and supplies from the Kingdom, Ordona Province pays them in food, horses, and other agriculture products.

The Kingdom of Hyrule actually has female soldiers in their army as well. The Hylians are very matriarchal themselves. The potential conflict between the two nations comes in that the Hylians are not exactly upholding their end of the bargain (they are busy fighting their own wars up north instead of helping defend Ordona's borders from Moblins and Lizalfos)

Elder goats are an event based unit, but that event is not in the game yet.

now to be fair to Hyrule and my beloved Zeldas, every other faction/race seems to have a hate on for Hyrule, and invading/skirmising with them, and Ordona isnt exactly helping out the mother kingdom at all from what i've seen.

so Ordona doenst seem to be pulling its weight either.

I think you misunderstand. Ordona is a farming country that generates like 90% of Hyrules food. They give them the food in return for military protection, which they are not receiving. If Ordona stopped giving Hyrule all that food, there would be mass famine and starvation. At the moment, Hyrule is basically being paid to be Ordona's bodyguard, but instead of actually guarding Ordona they've gone down the pub, spent all the money on booze and now they're picking fights with everyone else while leaving Ordona to get mugged in an alley on the other side of town.

    That's pretty much the case.

I think a higher tier spear unit would work well, as their only current one is literally armed peasants, and is so weak that cavalry can charge them straight on with few casualties. I know that for mounted battles, Ordona should use their own superior horses as a counter, but sometimes it's just not feasible, such as in siege battles.

I was thinking Ordona Sheep Herders:

"With roaming bands of Moblins conducting raids on vital livestock, the war-boar is a symbol of fear and pain for the Ordona people. While the famed Goats of Ordona are hardy enough to discourage all but the most stubborn attackers, sheep herders need to be prepared to see off more than the occasional wolf. With a staff made of goat horn strong enough to stop an enraged boar sharpened to a point, and clothing hardy enough to last in any climate, the Ordona Sheep Herders may lack training and professional equipment, but will fight to the bitterest end to protect that which they value most - the freedom for their people to thrive"

I think Ordona needs more mid teir infantry period. Lumberjacks are good, but they need a better sword and shield and shield and spear units. Nothing too good, they are peasents after all, but something more formidable.

I was talking with someone a while back (can't remember who) about it, and they advised Ordona Knights (mounted and unmounted). A step up from Ordona Riders, who are meh to bad, and a step below Goat Lords, who are too good for being the second melee cavalry unit. Essentially wannabe KoH knights, better armed and armoured than their rider counterparts (but still not as good as KoH knights) with a lance for charging, but suffer slower movement speed and lower stamina for it (but still better than KoH, they are hose lords after all). Then, just an unmounted version as heavy foot soldiers.

Working off that, you could have Dismounted Ordonian Lancers as a heavier type of spear unit if needed.

Honestly, I think Goat Lords (now that they have been fixed) are a bit overpowered as a general's bodyguard unit in comparison to other races' bodyguards. 1 on 1 Ordona general vs a general of any other faction, Ordona wins because of the goat lords. The Goat Lords seem to be more on par with each factions' ultimate units (triforce vanguards, deku trees, armogohma, etc.) than with the bodyguard units. What I suggest is either make lumberjacks the general bodyguard units to be more on par with other bodyguard units (Korok Warriors, Ironclad Elites, Fire Warriors, etc.) or make another cavalry unit like the ones Mattwensley and Mjolnr are suggesting that would act as the bodyguards.

Just curious as to why you didn't have Colin as a hero unit?

When you think of important people from Ordona in the game there are 5 characters who would fall into that catagory, Link, Ilia, Colin, Rusl, Bo, in that order.

I find it odd that you didn't include him for the simple fact that children are quite prominent in the mod. The Kokiri and Prince Ralis come to mind. Even if he doesn't seem like someone who is combat worthy, i.e. use a sword and shield(despite TP end credits where he is using one), he easily could be given a more passive unit, like Hawkmen.

Honesty I feel like adding any more heavy infantry to their roster might throw off the rugged miltia feeling they have but I definitely agree with the Ordonian Knight idea. Suggested similar before but called it Ordonian Retainers (ordonians who served as auxiliary cavalry in Hyrule's army and have completed their term and returned to Ordon, more experienced and better armed riders) or Ordonian Roughriders (These riders have all experienced the loss of one or more loved ones at moblin hands to the point where they have sworn an oath to band together and hunt down any Moblin that sets foot in their land, would be like the serbian knights from vanilla, heavy fast elite cavalry but prone to not obey orders as easily as others).

As for those asking for spear units, a pike milita (kind of like scotlands pike militia) unit could be added. Pikes seem to be an easy weapon to mass produce, specially if Ordon gets upgraded to a large town or city and at the same time, being militia, they wouldn't be overpowering but would fill the spear gap and still fit the roster.

Always viewed Ordon as a mix between a scottish highland faction/lithuanian baltic faction.

Something that might be of interest:

A few weeks ago, I played as the Ordona in a massive battle against the Kokiri. I had reinforcements on hand. I clicked the little boxes to try and keep them under my command, but they are terribly labelled, and I inadvertantly put them under AI command. As you know, the AI's battle strategy involves charging headfirst into the enemy lines, generally to massive casualties for themselves. And this is what the AI did, with essentially a fully stacked army.

And it worked. Ordona's stats, unit roster, advantages and disadvantages roll into a major blitzkreig force. This AI army charged headlong into the enemy, and broke them, causing more casualties than my slow advance at less of a cost.

Ordona OP, Blizzard, release a patch already.

This will all the more relevant if Blizz actually hires Neph.

Until they put him on the Starcraft dev team, force him to abandon all of his non-Sigma projects, and never make Warcraft 4.

You bring up a point that, while other wise off topic, I feel I should remind Mr. Nephalim.

Some companies will force you to give up all your privately produced games to join them. . . please consider the consequences of such.

AAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH goats lords are OP! I played as lizalfos in campaign on hard difficulty and one goat lord unit destroyed 12 of my batallions, sadly i didnt have any spearmen otherwise victory wouldve been assured, but its tricky to get spearmen as the lizalfos early on, i would suggest taking their charge and defense down a little

Or perhaps drop their defense drastically but add one more hp. Makes them a bit more susceptible to more units but retains their elite status...
