    Default Coastline: suitable/unsuitable for disembarking

With the inclusion of Naval landings, one must wonder: "How am I to engage and enemy attempting to land upon my shores, and experience this wondrous new form of battle?"

The answer (That I very much hope CA have thought of as well) is simple: Make only certain areas fit for landing an army. Not all coastlines are as hospitable as, say, Normandy. Many have cliffs, rocks, and other natural hazards which make landing and army problematic. It could even be made so that the larger your force is, the less places there are to land it, the longer it takes to disembark, and the more noticeable to the enemy it is.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Example: I want to sneak in a reconnaissance force of 2 light infantry and a general. Due to their small numbers they can be landed in single turn almost anywhere I please. When I bring in the full army for the attack, there are only, say, two beaches in the region upon which I can land them and it takes a full two turns.

I think this system would give the enemy a fair chance to intercept the attacker, without hamstringing them too severely. It would also give one the ability to fortify beaches that would be likely spots for an invasion.

I agree, although it might be difficult to do the scaling difficulty idea well. Instead, I'd like to have some idea of the defensibility of each area of coastline (flat beach, shoals, hills, cliffs, impassible), and have the battle map reflect this.
If you rep me, leave your name. I'll look more kindly on your future transgressions.

It depends on the map scale- most coastlines have some small cove or beach somewhere to land. That is how smugglers and pirates operate. To make a complete coastline of a region impassible that is dozens of miles long should be quite rare.

Indeed, small; one would need a significantly larger area to land a full army.

I don't think that the player can still create tiny armies, because CA wants armies with a character and less battles. Therefore you can't land just three units. And the answer is pretty simple: It takes at least a turn to land, enemy forces are always visible on your land and you might find auto-garrisons in your province or region, which are limited to action within that province or region.
