Default Let them draw Swords for combat!

    Hey guys,

ive really missed a small but imo lovely animation in Shogun2.

It could be nice to let all the troops, which are equipped with swords, draw swords when you click "battle"
    also
let the Peltasts, Spear-Cav or even Archers draw swords if they need to encounter close combat.

Just a small idea, hope you will take it in.

And don't forget scabbards this time.

This feature should definitely be in. I really hated it in the first game, when you're fighting pikemen with swords, and they just suddenly bring down their massive spears from the middle of nowhere and massacre your unit.

That's actually a very good point. Once a phalanx reaches a threshold of close quarter combat, a phalanx shouldn't be able to reengage a phalanx formation

I know nothing about the gameplay element to this, but I think it would look marvelous to see your army all draw weapons when the battle starts.
For King, Country, and lots of lovely money.

I like it, simple animation to do. I hope CA does it !

I also hope CA puts this in. These little details are part of the reason I fell in love with the series.

    Yeah. Do this!
Maybe draw them when the enemy is in certain range?

I'd also like to see the pila strapped to the Romans' shields.

I saw the battle trailer. It's crap.

Hollywood Romans in LS charging in and mixing it up with the Gauls in a choreographed "300" style of fighting. Which the Romans DID NOT do, NEVER did and conquered most of their known world NOT doing.

This looks and eye-candy game for the younger set with their very short attention spans.

I want my spearmen to fight with spears still though, being trained to fight with a sword is something that is supposed to take much skill.

I agree I hope little things like this can be included in Rome II. The animations have gradually improved with each game, so hopefully this time round we can see animations for drawing swords and switching weapons.

If I may add, I would also like to see units able to pick up usable arrows, javelins and pila to restock.

I think he's referring to a mod for Empire (ROMA VICTRIX) that he thinks is Rome 2.

I'm totally cool with the drawing swords thing, I just don't want them to go 'SCHWWING'.

    Here's what I'm talking about.

Lol. I've seen that mod before. People really shouldn't do that. Then people really thinks it's Rome 2.
