Hey all,
I've been playing this mod for a long time. After a one year break, I've got back to it.
Ever since the beginning, I've been tinkering with the mod, fixing oversights, changing triggers, what have you and have got a lot of experience with changing the EDCT, EDA, campaign_script and similar files.
I never had any problems changing things on the fly and testing them on my ongoing Spanish campaign. (can't remember if I started it with file caching disabled or not) I made hundreds of little changes.
However, when I came back to the game, I started a new Novgorod campaign. I was playing for some time with no file tinkering.
Then I wanted to change something in EDCT (and descr_settlement_mechanics and descr_campaign_db), namely BGR estate earnings triggers, which I edited earlier. After doing so, I tried loading my Novgorod, and got a crash before the bar started filling up. I went to check the log - nothing. Just pack loading and unspecified error. I know I didn't make any mistakes. See for yourself:
toCode:Trigger EstatesEarn1 WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd Condition IsGeneral and CharacterIsLocal and Trait Estates = 2 ; and Trait Wealth < 9 and Trait DefiedOrders <= 3 Affects Earn 2 Chance 100 Affects Wealth 2 Chance 100 Affects TreasuryCost 2 Chance 100 Affects Hundreds 2 Chance 100 ;------------------------------------------
So I tried loading my Spanish campaign and it loaded alright and my changes were in effect.Code:Trigger EstatesEarn1 WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd Condition IsGeneral and CharacterIsLocal and Trait Estates = 2 ; and Trait Wealth < 9 and Trait DefiedOrders <= 3 Affects Earn 1 Chance 100 Affects Wealth 1 Chance 100 ; Affects TreasuryCost 1 Chance 100 Affects Hundreds 1 Chance 100 ;------------------------------------------
I went back, and put the old files back, both campaigns loaded alright.
So I experimented, and tried just changing the numbers: Novgorod crash, Spanish alright. I went further and just deleted the "; Earn 100 for estate owners" comment: Novgorod crash, Spanish alright.
I have no idea what could cause such a bizarre touchiness.
Any help from the modding gurus would be appreciated.
