Default Open letter to CA about modding

Dear CA .... I really hope with the new engine surfacing on the scene , that you will have much more attention to the modding community ... We modders are resourcefull people , we can create new things and new gameplay , extend the very same lomgevity of a game beyond what could be the best forecasts of the developers...

Please do not think we are stupid and unable to use complex tools ...

Provide us with good resources formmodding , do not hardcode the game and allow us modding...

The most important things to allow for me are :
[*] possibility to implement new unit entirely made from scratch , models, textures , animations
[*] import and export tools for models and animations
[*] possibility to create new maps and arrange new political regions , cities and subdivisions
[*]possibility to mod , modify or create by scratch new interfaces and UI
[*] a map tol to create easily new battles , custom terrains and battlefields tomuse either as special historical battles or as online battles
[*]possibility to mod stats and behaviours easily throught a chart editor
[*] possibility tomscript events and behaviours throught a Lua scripting , c++ or similar else...
[*] possibility to mod not only units but even machinery , ships and whatelse ...
[*] consider modders as a plus valor and a resource rather than an annoyance that could steal your DLC interest ... Because any serios fan would like to have all the official dlcs and mods rather than just mods...
[*] finally focus please dlcs on adding more features rather than useless unit packsthat could be easily modded in...

Please do not scrap this post with just a comment like our tools are too complicate , modding is not possible tomhigher levelsetc... Editing sometexts or changing few lines is not enough for serious modding ... Please check what mny other companies do regarding modding for games like , crysia ,elder scrolls, witcher, unreal ...etc etc etc... All benefit from mods , and in many case modding become also a training ground for future possible new levy inyour same ranks ....

    Thanks for attention....

There are already a billion threads about the topics you keep opening.. post in those instead of making new ones..

Absolutely agree. Shogun 2 and Empire didn't have half the re-playability that a modded M2TW and RTW had. If game prices continue to soar the way they have been, and producers continue to limit modding, I don't see any reason to waste money buying an overpriced rtw 2 if I'll almost certainly be playing m2tw more often just for its' mods.

I see the standard of membership allowed to post here on twcenter is continuing to dwindle :/. Here's to hoping the admins massively restructure the rules so these kids can't make posts like that anymore. Its not just this thread either, most of the threads on this forum seem to be filled with trolls, 12 y/o's, and would-be-moderators like him.

I must contradict vigorously. PROMETHEUS ts thread is more than meaningful.
In fact it is very important to act at an very early stage in regard to Rome II modding
and I respect PROMETHEUS for doing that. Let us see if Creative Assembly takes
their more committed and anxious customers seriously. I´m looking very much
forward to an answer from Creative Assembly.

Yours sure is worth a heavenly beam of enlightment.

And prom is absolutely right in every point. And the more open letters and lists with requests and wishes the better.
Maybe it will come to the attention of CA.
I´d even add an editor for siege battles, to add capture points and scripted events. A fortifications and cities editor in order to build a city from scratch like in Stronghold. And user-friendly for the not modders. But I think it is too much. But not in my head. I have hundreds of wishes.

From what I understand so far already Mods represent a threat against DLCs, perhaps they will poison us with tens of thousands of little DLCs for this new game where each faction, tree or sword, will be a new DLC worth about $ 5.

How do mods pose a threat to DLC? You can and have always been able to edit the units. That is the majority of the DLC right there. I'm honestly curious about this question as I don't see how modding has any affect on the DLC that's sold.

As we've seen though when the graphics increase only a smaller and smaller minority of people are able to produce models/textures that are at the same quality level as the stuff CA produces, so I don't think they're worried about the units not selling.

I remember when they(C.A) made a specific request, here on TWC that no one can use in their mods blood radius for Shogun2, or something about blood, and next, they come with new blood DLC pack, of course for money$$$. They thinking before that any good modders can do that blood pack, so, any idea comes to their head for their DLC and realize that this is something can be done even by modders in their MODS, will be a threat to their DLC and their money$

when RTW was originally released I used to play modern era RTS games like C&C.

it was the mods that got me interested and hooked in the total war series. I bought RTW in 2010, 6 years after it was released. and later on the subsequent titles as well.

THAT is the power of mods. without the mods and TWC I would probably never have gotten interested in TW series.

Not sure if anyone has checked the modding tools of CIV III but they were pretty awesome. They gave you the ability to create a map very easily. Hope there's gonna be a similar editor in RTW II.

"Steps to be taken in case Russia should be forced out of war considered. Various movements [of ] troops to and from different fronts necessary to meeting possible contingencies discussed. Conference also weighed political, economic, and moral effect both upon Central and Allied powers under most unfavorable aspect from Allied point of view. General conclusions reached were necessity for adoption of purely defensive attitude on all secondary fronts and withdrawing surplus troops for duty on western front. By thus strengthening western front [those attending] believed Allies could hold until American forces arrive in numbers sufficient to gain ascendancy."
