If he means a latin-american language like portuguese or spanish why doesnt he just say portuguese... could be me but they speak portuguese in brazil and not latin...

However it would be kinda cool for the die-hard roman campaign players but it seems stupid to me when you play a barbarian faction.

It will be even cooler if you can play a campaign with ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs.

False, wrong and uninformed (merciful euphemism!) statement!

The Latin Language is alive and kicking!

Only in Europe: 65.000.000 of French, 63.000.000 of Italians, 46.000.000 of Spanish,
10.000.000 of Portugeses, 22.000.000 of Romanians, 10.000.000 of Belgians

    =
In Europe there are at least 216.000.000 (216 milions!) of citizens who speak Latin,
The Romance languages are the wonderful Spoken Latin of the XXI century!

If we add only South America: 386.000.000 of population, Central America: 41.000.000, and Messico: 112.000.000, and almost half the population of the USA, and part of Canada, and great part of Africa, the number of people who is speaking the Spoken Latin of the XXI c. is incredible!
If there is a dying Language,....for sure, it is not the Latin!

    Wake up baby!
Latin is alive and kicking and growing!

The Old King will never die!

So it is really a good idea RSII in Latin!

I wish there was a like button on this forum but I believe that those languages are no longer considered latin because they have evolved so much that they are now branched off of latin and can no longer be considered true latin... If Julius Ceasar came back from the dead he would have no clue what a Spanish person or even an Italian was saying.

They still don't speak latin, but latin based languages that are quite different from eachother, really looks nothing like Roman Latin. Latin kinda died when the Romans got replaced by Ostrogoths and Lombards in the north and Moors in the south, modern North Italians and South Italians can hardly even be considered the same people except linguistically. By your definition Gothic is still well alive and kicking

I know well what I say o.c.! I studied seven years Latin and Ancient Greek!

Do you know the meaning of the words Romance Philology? Do you know the History of the Romance Languages, their development? What is this language for you, not Romance-speakers?

    Is it Latin for you?
No! It is no more Latin! my dear friends this is the first text written in Italian, to understand why this text is Italian and no more Latin you have to study the linguistic phenomena that transformed the Spoken Latin in Vulgar Italian!

Anyway the main phenomenon was this: The common people, the vulgus, probably did not declinate the Latin, so to understand the different situations they used pronouns and adverbs, that became the articles of the Romance Languages; exemple:

Latin: Domina - nominative case (EN: The Lady): Vulgar Spoken Latin: Illa domina, Italian: la donna
Latin: Dominae - genitive case (EN: of the lady), Vulgar Spoken Latin: De illa domina, Italian : della donna.
Latin: Dominae - dative case (EN: to the lady), Vulgat Spoken Latin: Ad illa Domina, Italian: alla donna.

    Do you understand now?

If Caesar was able to understand the spoken Latin of his legionaries well, probably he might understand my Italian!

For illitterate Latin guys: The written Latin is one thing, the spoken Latin is another thing! The 90% of the words of Italian are Latin words, few exemples:

    Donna (IT) = Domina-ae (LT)
    Strada (IT) = Starta-ae (LT)
    Femmina (IT) = Foemina-ae (LT)
    Padre (IT) = Pater-is (LT)
    Madre (IT) = Mater-is (LT)
    Vittoria (IT) = Victoria (LT)
    Amare (IT) = Amare (LT)
    Rosa (IT) = Rosa (LT)
    Bellico (IT) = Bellicus (LT)
    Via (IT) = Via (LT)
    Spada (IT) = (LT) Spatha
    Nave (IT) = Navis (LT)
    Pane (IT) = Panis-i (LT)
    Macchina (IT) = Machina-ae (LT)
    Magistero (IT) = Magisterius-i (LT)
Magnitudine (IT) = Magnitudo- dinis (LT)
    Possibile (IT) = Possibilis-i (LT)
    Strepitare (IT) = Strepitare (LT)
    Stridore (IT) = Stridor-oris (LT)
    Studio (IT) = Studium-i (LT)
    Nero (IT) = Niger-i (LT)
    Stupendo (IT) = Stupendus-i (LT)
    Provincia (IT) = Provincia-ae (LT)
    Tale (IT) = Talis,e (LT)
    Bene (IT) = Bene (LT)
    Arma (IT) = Arma-orum (LT)
    Armatura (IT) = Armatura-ae (LT)
    Legione (IT) = Legio-onis (LT)
    Collidere (IT) = Collidere (LT)
    Collocazione (IT) = Collocatio-onis (LT)
    Morte (IT) = Mors-mortis (LT)
    Sospiro (IT) = Suspirium-i (LT)
    Sento (IT) = Sentio (LT)
    Arte (IT) = Ars-Artis (LT)
    Sangue (IT) = Sanguis-inis (LT)

    ...........
Do you need more? I could quote my entire Latin Dictionary (They are three, so it wuold take a lot of time and space, but if you are interested....let me know!) if you wish, but the result does not change o.c.! Because we speak the spoken Latin of the XXI Century! I can read and understand Spanish texts even if I did not studied Spanish! I can read and understand great part of the French texts even if I did not study French!...We Romance speakers can understand each other, with difficulty, because we spaek the Sopken Latin of the XXI century, of various regions of the ex-Roman Empire!

The Romance Languages (all the Romances languages!)
are the Spoken Latin of the XXI century

Don't you believe me? OK! Try this small experiment this is a very famous and very important text of the IX century, I can read and understand it, or great part of it, and you? What is this Language? Latin? Italian Vulgar? French Vulgar? Spanish?...... Do you understand some word of this text, you not Romance speakers? It is like the dialect of my grandmother from Piedmont! ... Can you poor not Romances-speakers understand something of this text? ......I can understand the meaning (Not all the words), and you not-Romance speakers?.........if you will not understand anything, I'll give you the High German version of the text, then you'll understand all! Barbarians! (Joking my dear friends!)

"Pro deo amur et pro christian poblo et nostro commun salvament, d'ist di in avant, in quant deus savir et podir me dunat, si salvarai eo cist meon fradre Karlo, et in aiudha et in cadhuna cosa, si cum om per dreit son fradre salvir dift, in o quid il mi altresi fzet, et ab Ludher nul plaid nunqua'm prindrai, qui, meon vol, cist meon fradre Karle in damno sit

I want RSII in Latin please, we Romance-speakers will understand the words and the sounds of the OLD KING!

There's no throw up smilie around here somewhere? What a shining example of being proud about nothing... Latin sounds gay, Gothic sounds awesome and it doesn't have to be understandable.

The RS team will then have to recruit some many language experts and ask them if they could translate these factions into their original languages.. Sorta of a far off shot

Why can't the RS team ask EB for their Latin voice mod. The one that they use in battles. The RS team gave the RTW community their enviroments and map for everybody to use. So, EB should give RS their voice mod. Thats my 2 cents worth.
