Default Submods making my game slow

So I can run the third age fine, but when I add submods the campaign turns are very slow. Battles work fine in custom battles. When I check the log it says I have a ton of missing textures. I am trying to use MOS submod collection, third age 3.2, and Steam. I'm not sure if steam is the problem. Any help is appreciated.

MOS has a lot of scripts.

    More scripts = longer turns

Ok. Thanks for the reply. But is it normal if it takes over 10 minutes for your next turn?

Defragging your computer might help. I also use ccleaner.

Someone already wrote a guide about this topic. http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=252060

10 minutes? A potato would do better then that lol. If it's really 10 munites then it has nothing to do with MOS anymore. My turn endings take arround 6 seconds in vanilla TATW, and about 8 in MOS TATW.. I don't see why it has so much influence with other people's pc's.

I think it may be a steam problem or an installation problem. When I check the log it says i have a ton of textures missing. Could someone tell me exactly what folder to install MOS in?

I'm not sure if missing textures would affect turn end times. But I have seen "10 minute turn end" reports from people before ... people with older CPUs.

I don't know about those scores or model numbers. Maybe someone else can tell you how good the CPU is.

My CPU is fairly decent but a few years old now and it was struggling quite a lot with MOS (a few version ago). New CPUs don't seem to have a problem at all, so take that into account when people say that turn end times should be really fast. Easy for them to say.

@ap1991 Your hardware on itself isn't bad. What might be a problem is that it's all mobile (laptop/notebook) equipment, so it underperformes severely when you compare it to desktop hardware of the same tier/price class. This is especially true in the case of GFX-cards. With all that said however your CPU has 3000 Mhz on a single core. coupled with 8 GB's of RAM. That should be more than sufficient to play the game so my bet would be on the mods or perhaps the way you extract them .

Plus, if your CPU temperature is high(summer time) then it slows performance too. I just installed two 120 mm big cooling fans into my PC machine box, when running games before it was working around 65-75 C˙, now it runs them on 50-55, and I can see the difference in performance.

My room is actually pretty cool plus i use a laptop fan, so it doesnt heat up too much. It might be how i install the game. I use 7 zip and put MOS is the americas folder (which is required for the steam version of the third age mod) but im not sure if that is correct.

Your are using a laptop with an integrated chipset CPU (neither of which is desirable for gaming), this will cause really long turn times as the game progresses. Play a different mod, or remove some unwanted scripts from the mod you are playing. Changing all the "not" in the scripts to "!" helps a bit, as it requires less checks and processing of said scripts.

Anyway to cut out a few scripts? I Always choose the same options when I start a new campaign (The answer in most cases being "No"). So, how to remove said scripts, or make them permanent?
