    Default Time Commanders

.......Would rome 2 just not be perfect for a new updated series of this wicked little uk show from 2003 ?, loved it back then and they are all still on youtube, heres one of them to watch if you have not seen it before

Was cool watching the gens and there officers in the teams (4 on each team 2 gens and 2 officers) trying to control there army, i do believe the on screen AI cheated like hell haha, but it was a great series, they also had 2 experts per week to watch and offer advice to us at home when the camera was on them, and then at the end they would show the teams what happened in the real battles, just damn good tv with a bit of millitary history thrown in, it did not get much better then that.

Think the 2nd series covered medieval total war, with rome being done in the first. the experts are people who i have a ton of there books, Mike Loades, Saul David, Mark Urban or Dr. Adrian Goldsworthy, all of whom made good fun tv over all. Funny enough just a bit later Dr. Aryeh Nusbacher of Sandhurst who was also on the show had a sex change and is now known as Lynette Nusbacher

We already had a thread on this.

The answer is fairly simple : BBC have cuts, and the show failed for a reason.

Did not see a thread and that was years ago nearly 10, also why the BBC ?, so many other channels to choose, look at say how red dwarf has been brought on dave tv, doubt the show would cost to much

Dave just show repeats of other channels' stuff.

It would have to re-branded, renamed and reformed. A history channel is the only place you'll find it now though. The British public are more interested in Simon Cowell's latest "talent" scam than historical battles recreated with a video game. And the BBC is more interested in competing with Simon Cowell.

They'd also have to find another main historical advisor since the previous one had a sex change, and I doubt the high brow newspapers in Britain would accept this.

Your closest hope is a return of Decisive Battles.

There, fixed for you. And sadly the doom of mankind. We no longer dream into expanding to space to ensure our survival as species, but instead waste all the time dreaming what stupid thing a idiot living on a beach near New York would do the next week, or whom some of the Kardashians will sleep with this weekend... pathetic.

If there is a demand then the small channels will regenerate old shows, Dave themselves have already recommissioned Red Dwarf.

They trialled the idea with an exclusive to them 90 minute Red Dwarf special a couple of years ago which was successful and they've already filmed series ten and will be airing it in the autumn so yeah there's no reason why they couldn't do a Time Commanders series 3 if there was enough interest.

If anything this show should be remade into some sort of tournament with skilled TW players reenacting old battles.

    This...

In the opposing teams if anybody had any decent clue of ancient warfare they'd have a huge edge.

Don’t think the history channel would want to have anything to do with this game, unless there are a bunch of mini games where your generals can hunt elephants or something, or a part of the game focusing on merchants bringing their goods from distant lands and having to avoid barbarians and staying close to the shore because their terrible sailors, or maybe events where aliens come from mars and teach the Romans how build aqueducts and give them modern technology
I check into small hotel a few kilometers from Kiev. It is late. I am tired. I tell woman at desk I want a room. She tells me room number and give key. "But one more thing comrade; there is one room without number and always lock. Don't even peek in there." I take key and go to room to sleep. Night comes and I hear trickling of water. It comes from the room across. I cannot sleep so I open door. It is coming from room with no number. I pound on door. No response. I look in keyhole. I see nothing except red. Water still trickling. I go down to front desk to complain. "By the way who is in that room?" She look at me and begin to tell story. There was woman in there. Murdered by her husband. Skin all white, except her eyes, which were red. I tell her I don't give a . Stop the water trickling or give me refund. She gave me 100 ruble credit and free breakfast. Such is life in Moscow

Yeah, a new Decisive Battles is pretty unlikely as well considering the state of the "History" channel.

You know, I always saw staying home from school as a chance to watch History in the Classroom on the History Channel. It's not the same anymore.

Seeing this show or Decisive Battles make a comeback would be cool but I doubt it as the general public doesn't seem to care about history. But with all the new total war games they could do a lot more than just Antiquity era battles. With games like Napoleon or Empire they show off the Battles of Waterloo, Trafalgar, maybe even battles from American Revolution to sastify Americans.

A show of this sort could easily air on G4TV if it doesn't have a high budget. They used to have some show with people competing in tourneys with shooter games.
