Default Windows 8 64 bit 2 questions: Release date & backwards compatibility

    Hi everyone,

I have a Win 7 machine that has an Intel quad core CPU. Well as of recent, one of my cores is spiking up and down and I'm concerned my PC will die!

I don't want to buy another Win 7 machine as this is a waste of money IMHO.

Can someone give me an authentic link to when Win 8 is coming out & Is Win 8 backwards compatible or not?

    Thank you,
    hellas1

Release date is late October. If you buy a select Machine with Windows 7, the upgrade price to Windows 8 is going to be only $15.

That said, because your CPU core is spiking doesn't mean it's gonna die, it just means that it's doing stuff.

I have been using the Consumer Preview for a couple of months now as my Main OS and i haven't had any compatibility issues. I can also say Windows 8 is much less of a resource hog then Windows 7

I have the opportunity to check Windows 8 Consumer Preview. In fact, I was looking at the features before I jumped back over here. I was wondering how it would work with all of the programs and games that I have. Jaketh, you said you have had no issues with it. So, you can run everything that you had in Windows 7 with no problems? I think I want to try it out, but I don't want to screw up anything.

    Thanks,

    Testudo
