Default So you like hearing the lack of Freedoms in Russia do ya?

Most of the time on this forum I hear alot a bs about Russia propegated by purspofuly misinforming or willfully ignorant western media about the state of liberty in the Russian Federation. Well today I was reading in Russia's unfree and totally state-controlled press and I found a real threat to civil liberties in Russia titled: Russian State Duma Bill 89417. Federal Law about Information designed to get this "protect children." Yes Russian Duma is basically Rev Lovejoy's wife screaming "think of the children!" down the streets of Moscow after looking at a webpage while some gopnik from the provinces is banging two stung out whores 1 city block away with his 13 year old smoking a filterless cigarette and watching. Basically the law creates a blacklist of internet sites that do the following:
The Registry Operator would links to websites or domain names containing:

As well there was something about extremism. The definition of extremism in Russia has been abused in the past multiple times. I also really like the "think of the children" element in Russia. By the time we are five Russian children have seen and felt things a first-worlder hasn't. Last thing Russian children need protection from is spooky information.

As a result the Russian version of wikipedia has been shut down like the company did in the English language section when US Congress was toying around with SOPA.

Here is the link to English language translation of the Bill for your reading enjoyment:

Interesting to note though that this bill is getting criticism from the Al Gore of Russia- Dimitry Medvedev. According to him language is very bad and does not address the root of the social problem. Making it very subjective and bad for internet business. It has also come under fire by the Communications Minister of the Russian Federation. So at least it does seem that the bill does have some enemies in high places.

Meet the new regime, same as the old regime.

What is weird is that this bill comes from Russian civil society and not the regime. You actually have key components of the regime that are against it. But it's in its second reading in the Duma and duma is full of troglodyte retards.

While it's strange that you chose a bill on child pornography and other morsels to make a thread on the large problems facing Russia's political and social future, rather than say the high irregularities of the last election or the grievances put forth by the people who poured on the streets in their wake, thank you for the information.

Election results and exit polls had a margin of error of ~5-6 differentiation. Look it up if you do not believe me. But different subject different thread. Here though is my problem with the bill:

Any other information which is prohibited to spread in Russia, by the decisions of courts.

This is the clause in the law that is to be used against the people and the one that will be most abused- Child Pornography is just a mask. As an American you should know that US Congress does this all the time- making a bill about sound reasonable but adding a bunch of fine text that allows the state to do more than what that bill's title suggested and would cause justifiable outrage if anyone ever bothered to read it.

Now I dont expect many on this board to be experts on Russian case law but this bill would incorporate the draconian Law on Extremism. Basically whatever the state says is extreamism is not allowed to be talked about...and this has been abused. Again good sounding law. Only to be used against neo-nazis and these types of people. Instead its been used to target anti-government spokesman. Even if it is not abused it is still a bad law. So this would propel Russia's Law on Extremism into the cybersphere and give the state power to censor any "extreamist" content. Russian internet in its current state is a complete unregulated anarchy (much to the dislike of anti-piracy advocates)- as it should be.

And over 100% turnout in some areas! Imagine that. But different subject different thread.

In the America of reality, this happens rarely and is jumped on by the media in an instant, even if the outrage is manufactured.

Now we agree, and given the growing autocratic tendencies of the Russian regime it is without a doubt a cause for alarm, but even if such was passed in my country as some conservative circles would like I would be upset.

Depends on the tendency for the ruling regime to abuse legislation to silence opposition. Like when they raided their critics and confiscated their computers on the basis they are running unauthorized copies of Microsoft software.

would create a blacklist of internet sites containing alleged child pornography, drug related material, extremist material, and other content illegal in Russia.
How is this any different than what goes on in Germany or France? Because they are blocking the internet instead of "real life"?

Agreed with the word rarely as it sometimes does happen.

Men are naturally attracted to young girls... this will not go away no matter how much it offends the delicate sensibilities you have been instilled with

Which creates a tricky thing. A 16 year old is often considered old enough to have sex but not to do pornography which would be 18. Or whatever numbers apply.

I mean in Spain the age of consent is what? 14. The fact Lolita is a Spanish name for "Little Lola" can't be coincidental.

Man. if you are 15 or 16, i guess its ok if you want to go to bed with a 14 years old girl. But are you talking about an adult guy trying to have sex with a 14 years old girl? Thats pedophilia .

Personally, i donīt know why you have mentioned Spain. Surelly you are not saying spanish girls are lolitas, or a like that

Edit: Sorry, but looks like you want even younger people in pornograpphy (16 years old girls, but maybe younger?). I find it insane.

So Russia finally introduces SOPA/ACTA-like legislation. I have to say though, you guys are losing your touch. You're supposed to be ahead of the rest of the West when it comes to clampdowns. The way some people here paint Russia, you should have the internet behind bars by now.

On a similar note, our conservative government here in Canada is trying to ram through internet legislation that echos what the Yanks have under the Patriot Act. Ironically, they're also trying to use the child pornography scare-tactic. Our Minister of Public Safety Vic Toews even dared to label Canadians against the legislation as "with the child pornographers." Hilariously, Toews has been accused of having an affair with his child's underage babysitter. HA!. We should send all of these freaks in our countries to Siberia to rot.

Once a political decision has been reached to proceed with internal disturbances in Syria, CIA is prepared, and SIS (MI6) will attempt to mount minor sabotage and coup de main [sic] incidents within Syria, working through contacts with individuals. Incidents should not be concentrated in Damascus. [A] necessary degree of fear, [...] frontier incidents and [staged] border clashes [will] provide a pretext for intervention. The CIA and SIS should use [...] capabilities in both psychological and action fields to augment tension. [Funding should be provided for a] Free Syria Committee [and arms should be supplied to] political factions with paramilitary or other actionist capabilities.

The amount of voluntary blindess in the old papal way of "BLASPHEMY!!!" is astounding, neither me not Col. Tartleton advocated pedophilia. . . .

Please read the context of the posts not just skim words with your eyes readying a response just for the sakes of it . . . . . .

    -.-

That other guy proudly placed me on his signature as a tagged pedophile, I have no words. Thanks to that all the underage girl users of this forum are safe.

No it's not, it's something somewhat morally dubious but it's no pedophilia. Throughout most human history nobody would have even thought there's something wrong with that.

Pedophilia as a word is about children, 11+ is a teenager and the correct term is illegal underage sex, but not pedophilia. I hate when terms are so bastardised in favour of placing people in generalised groups : (

Yes, personally I would define pedophilia as attraction to children (asexual creatures). 14 is anything but asexual.
