So I figured that I would try and make a compiled list of things that I personally though were needed for Rome II TW. I am also going to add in more things based on all of the comments, I believe that CA really needs more threads like this to see a compiled view of all things they need to include, and not just a random bunch of comments.
I will try and update this thread every 2-3 hours or every 50-100 comments.
I know I probably have not gotten all of the things you guys want (so far I checked only the comments on their FB page) but I will try and look through the comments on threads like this in the forums once I get some more time.
Also; I will try and add a "vital" section once I get the time, for things you guys really want.
Version 1.0 - Updated at 7/10/2012
Current list:
- Embassy or faster Diplomat travel speed. (so that it is not so bad to try to talk with other countries)
- Puppet Provinces/Kingdoms (you control indirectly through placement of a high ranking official in their country, like a king)
- Helpful AI/advanced AI (actually helps you when you declare wars, instead of sitting back and relaxing)
- Better way to control units/back up generals (Be able to appoint generals in command of infantry, cavalry or missiles, so that you have back-up generals or possibly Centurions in control in case your general is killed.)
- More Units/ more diverse units
- Re-name your legions or armies; make a legion a legion instead of just having it a group of soldiers.
- Stacks of 40+ in battles.
- Free For All multi-player games!
- Realistic army during naval battles (I.E. they will try to repel boarders if ship is attacked, in case of ship being sunk then all of the unit(s) in that ship will die; including the army soldiers, and a significant speed reduction if you have a large amount of army units in a ship).
- Larger Map (add in some more territory in addition to the old Rome map; like adding in mainland China, or japan or Africa or Western Europe like Ireland and England.)
- Decapitation! and other blood effects like wounding; arm severing, limbs being cut off, etc....
- Realistic help (when the soldier beside you takes an arrow, you try and help him.)
- Medics? such as units of soldiers who can heal wounded soldiers.
- Being able to use catapults/etc... in siege battles by deploying them on the walls.
- Battlefields and sieges that actually represent what is seen on the campaign map; not random-generated.
- Unique cities; like Carthage, Rome or Athens. (like adding in the Acropolis to Athens).
- Customizable *elite* units in campaign mode? Like buying armor and equipping them.
- All factions playable.
- CITY VIEW.
- Morale for legionary units not general-centric.
- Senate (maybe something like the church in M2TW?)
- Family tree/use of family.
- Random (historically accurate) new roman families spawning with armies and trying to make themselves in another roman house (like Julii, Scipii or Brutii).
- Bring back the SPQR.
- Realistic skins for soldiers (German warband does not look like Breton warband -_-).
- Greek City-States instead of the "Greeks" as a country (so like Athens, Sparta, Crete, etc...).
- More aggressive AI; trying to actually siege a city with possibly *naval* units please?
- Hotkeys to follow soldiers in first or third person.
- Ability to control *some* form of artillery.
- EASIER MODDING, MODDING TOOLS AVAILABLE AT THE BEGINNING.
- Different campaigns (like one for the Greeks; Carthaginians maybe for the different times of the Roman empire like the Republic and Imperial and one from the start to the fall).
- Choose the time you start and end the campaign (within a reasonable window of time) so that it is more customizable.
- More faction-specific units; Province or part of Province-specific units (like Spartans or Athenian Hoplites).
- Prisoners...? More options, such as keeping them as slaves or making them work for you.
- Slave trade (I know it's horrible but it IS historically accurate).
- World Wonders.
- Hotseat campaign.
- Very light infantry or archers being able to swim in shallow water. (like in barbarian invasion)
- Female units (like Amazons).
- Phalanx formations (that actually hold and don't fall apart or; even better, a phalanx that doesn't switch to swords unless you disable the phalanx.)
- Changeable Capital cities.
- Choosing your Heir; instead of him being automatically chosen for you.
- Summer residence (you must defend it to keep your wives/children safe).
- Allow assassination on children or wives (again, its not savory but it is also historically accurate).
- Reduce Squalor.
- fix auto-resolve battles against roman units.
- Ramming during Sea Battles.
- Sea battles
- More rebels; groups of rebels instead of rebels just in your cities.
- Ability to massacre a set amount of a city population (decreases squalor, resistance; increases general's dread or faction dread.)
- Resources like in Shogun 2 (like elephants, grain, iron, etc...)
- Different available time periods as expansions (like dark ages, pre-roman, etc...)
- Different unit skins if attack or defense is upgraded (like your weapons are different, such as good swords instead of bad ones, Lorica Segmentata armor instead of leather, etc...)
- Technology Tree!
- More Roman formations, keep Turtle formation.
- More video cutscenes for assassinations, etc...
- More Roman Factions.
- More Mercenaries!
- Bring cheats back (I know it's not good; but some people like to play the game that way I guess).
- Play without requiring an Internet connection (STUPID STEAM I H8 YOU!).
- Boar hunts, hunting in general with your family(s).
- Ragdoll death affects? So bodies pile on to each other, instead of merging.
- give us a chance to lead one legion of 6000 men to battle, give players a chance to have military parts of cohorts, centuries, etc... led by generals or captains.
- Be able to appoint your own Centurions (like have a family member sent into the army as centurion so he gains XP fast but can die easily; and then once he is good enough you send him to be a general or something).
- Have control of reinforcement armies (not just the army as a whole, but as different units).
- Customization of the generals, what armor they carry and weapons, how his guards look like, maybe the banner as well, and the name and looks possibly.
- Different Gaul and Germanic tribes instead of just Gaul and Germania as whole nations.
- Burning Pigs! XD
- Better Speeches.
- Possibility of "advisor" in battles or campaign be switched to most historically correct language for your country (like latin for romans, primitive french for Gaul, etc... if your into that sort of thing).
- Horses killed, but rider alive, means they either auto-retreat or become a new unit (dismounted urban cavalry...?)
- Greek Fire on warships!
- Amphibious sieges (you can attack with ships and then land troops).
- Avatar system...?
- ability to sack/exterminate/leave cities of enemies, so you can sack an enemy city but you don't automatically take it.
- Seasonal weather effects (units dying during long and hard winters, etc...)
- Ability to pull out of siege assaults without routing, so you can continue the siege rather than having to re-besiege it in the next turn.
- Battles that can last multiple turns (like if a defender of a city pulls back to a better defended area, the attackers can chose to wait till the next turn to continue their assault).
- Make it more mod-oriented and mod-friendly, people love their mods!
- Scavenge enemy armor after (their) defeat; so if they have units with +1 to armor, you gain that armor and can give it to any of your own units that have less than +1 armor.
- "Make it like Civ 5 where you can download mods through the game and turn them on/off in the main menu, so it's not a hassle to switch between each of the mods you have."
- Religion. Be able to chose your own religion (maybe found a new one) and either support or condemn Christianity, Islam, etc...
- Slavery/Extermination option if you conquer a full enemy province.
- Pick where your archer tower, cannon towers, etc... are placed using the city view option.
- Ability to set up some sort of barricades to impede foot soldiers trying to attack the city (like put a bunch of logs in the middle of a street; forcing them to become very open to attack or missile fire if they try to climb over them).
- Ability to hold military parades or something to boost happiness in cities (you can watch real time as all of your units stationed there march through the city, using city view).
