But if you stopped playing RTW because your PC is old and Rome is 8 years old the you should realy buy a new one for sure.
Here, mybe this will cheer you up :
But don't panic if you have a relatively old - or old - PC. Mike Simpson revealed that the minimum specifications for what sounds like the entire Total War series have been permanently frozen, which sounds like witchcraft to us.
"We've actually nailed the min-spec down so it's probably never going to change again," he revealed. "That's probably what we're aiming for. So as time goes by, you'll be able to run Total War on pretty much any PC that's out there.
"To make that happen, we actually end up splitting both assets and the actual code paths, so there's actually different ways of putting the scenes together for the two ends [of the spectrum]. Top-end really will exploit everything that your card can do. Bottom-end, if you've got a laptop running integrated graphics, we want to run on that. That's doable now. The tech's come on well enough."

My current PC is an Emachine with a simple Video Card. Even if I tune all the specs to the minimum there is still too much lag. It's not a gaming pc by no means.
Good to hear that I will not have to spend top dollars for a new pc. I do need to update my PC regardless. Any recommendations on PC's?

Build your own?
Buy a video card, processor, motherboard, RAM, PSU, HDD, SSD if you are in a spendy mood(it gives your seriously fast boot and load times). Then you just need the cables to connect all the parts to the motherboard, and of course a box to keep it in.
It's way easier than it sounds, and when you got one, you'll never have to replace the entire computer again. Now you can buy a single part and replace the old one.
No, High/Ultra would be for the high-end video cards. But you might be able to maintain a medium setting and get better graphics than Shogun 2 Medium setting graphics. The Ultra setting will demand all juice the card can provide, without lagging from the newest video cards, maybe even the next generation of GeForce and Radeon high-end cards(790,780,770 and 760; (8990,8970,8890 and 8870)Originally Posted by Petroniu

They are apparently aiming for requirements similar to shogun 2.
And they have a "frozen" minimum requirement, so that more people can play or something like that.
That is very kind of them. I meant today for almost every second game you have to have a good PC and to speak of game sizes, Max Payne 3 - 28GB ?, Holy sh..They are apparently aiming for requirements similar to shogun 2.
And they have a "frozen" minimum requirement, so that more people can play or something like that.
How big will Rome II then be ?
Then that is the end of the discussion, you have to buy a new PC. Start working or if you do already work, then start collection money and saving it.My current PC is an Emachine with a simple Video Card. Even if I tune all the specs to the minimum there is still too much lag. It's not a gaming pc by no means.
As far as I remember you have 8 more months, as they will release it in March 2013 I think.
How many threads like this do we need? Please use the search function![]()
Kids are being given laptops for xmas nowadays and going on facebook and stuff. So you could get a good cheap laptop with a built in graphics card to play games. It is cheaper than buyin a alien pc and other bulky machines.
And also you can go from room to room with a laptop.Get stuck into a nice reclyner chair and exterminate the Gauls.
indeed, I do vouch more for notebooks, I only use those since 2006, never had a desktop anymore.
I saw in the other larger thread about the specs a guy buying a xps desktop with a 7870 for 1400. You can buy a clevo/sager with the same specs for 1500, granted the cpu is going to be slower, but its mobile.

If you are confident, build your own. You can build a decent gaming machine for around £500 nowadays. There are plenty of online manuals as to how to build a pc. I'll be building myself one end of this year!![]()
LOL, Awesome
My issue with laptops when it comes to gaming is the mouse button. I always end up breaking it over time. Sometimes in battles I click too fast, too frequent. The two laptops that I have used in past(Gaming) both had the same fate. How do you guys deal with broken laptop mouse buttons?
The thought has crossed my mind.

Dude, noI'm gonna get this:

Could somebody advise on whether it is would be good for running something like Shogun on Ultra. That machine is way overpriced. For less money you can get something designed for gaming that comes pre overclocked and ready to rock shogun/any total war game on max settings. Check this out.

Add the 120gb SSD and the gtx570, and it comes to the same price as the HP, but with double the spec![]()
