Default Changing the turns per year?

    As the title says

I am running retrofit 1.0 and am wondering how I can get the turns per year to at least 2 TPY. To me that would seem much more realistic it feels like my factions life is flashing past them way too quickly. I read a yahoo post on it but I cannot seem to find the file they are talking about and because I am running retrofit it wouldnt matter anyway.

I'm assuming Retrofit is mod foldered? I haven't played it.

Go to Medieval II Total War\mods\Retrofit\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign
There will be a file called descr_strat. Open it up and find the line called timescale. Change the value to 0.5. This is not save game compatible.

If you want to make it save game compatible, you have to use a save game editor called MedManager.

I will point out this is a double-edged sword. Your agents/generals will live longer... but you'll also basically never get Gunpowder unless you feel like waiting for 100's of turns.

It's my main problem with M2TW, with everything tied to events that make it fun, but at the same time, each turn being TWO years? So it apparently takes like 20-40 years to reach Jerusalem via boat from England?

Actually just changing the timescale will not make your characters live longer. You need an aging script to dictate the seasons for that.

Really? I thought they do, given they aren't aging 2 years per turn. I think. I haven't actually checked, but I swear changing the timescale makes them live longer.

True. Characters age by 6 months when winter season is over so by delaying winter season using a season script you can synchronize your number of turns, years and ages of characters etc...

All characters age half a year per turn by default. The timescale is 2 years per turn by default. Doesn't make any sense. Changing the timescale to half a year per turn will put it in line with character aging. However, the timescale itself has no effect on character aging. That is simply because there is a discrepancy between the two to begin with. You need an aging script to change how characters age. Without an aging script, aging is always half a year per turn.
