Possible Mongol Invasion 2?

Considering that Rome II won't be released until december of next year, I find it unlikely that CA/Sega will go that long without releasing some form of expansion/dlc to keep some form of income rolling in. I believe that CA will make some kinda mini expansion for Shogun 2 like Mongol invasion or US Civil War for FOTS.

What do you guys think?

Need to find new models for 13th century chinese/korean vessels, not to mention new anims for the not so japanese draw style of bows mongols used, then we have korean and chinese mercs, cant have them all slashing like kyujutsu and sojutsu now can we?

It would be cool, but I guess since most of the team is working on Rome 2 it won´t happen.

I would love for this to happen, or at least for there to be a little more love given to S2 before Rome's release.

I don't think that is very likely. May be a few patches yet to come, but beside that, Rome II will be next I'd say

No please. Focus all resources on Rome 2, after releasing Rome 2 they can do whatever they please with the garbage left behind.

All thats left is a few more patches and even thats a maybe.

Hehe yeah mongol invasion is only a modders decision away honestly... it can be done.. but I am not sure how hard it would be nor do I know if it would even really be worth the time and effort to do it :p

Mongol invasion for Shogun 2 - Hell yeah I'd buy it! Though I would prefer an invasion of Korea/China, or a China/Korea on their own right expansion pack, I agree it's not likely to happen though. :-(

it wont happen. 18 months isn't that long for making a new game using a new engine. MTW2 Kingdoms came out on August 2007 and ETW on March 2009 that's about how long it takes to make a game. And I don't believe MTW2 got anything new in that time period. Sure you might see another crappy cell phone game or maybe another venture into other realms, but nothing on the real TW scene until RTW2.

Would I like to see more done with STW, sure, but that wasn't the question.

That would be cool , but i also think CA won't work on Shogun anymore , otherwise IMHO they would have released Mongol invasion after ROTS , but now with FOTS , it's very likely it was the last one in Japan ( sadly )

But we still have talented modders so who knows , although i admit i would be more interested by the announced Onin war mod or an Azuchi-Momoyama mod (like 1582 until hideyoshi's death ) because Mongol invasions would be basically only two factions , but it's true that would still be a fun campaign since it's a clash of cultures and there is the nostalgia of the first Mongol invasion

Agree it's unlikely to happen but I'd love to see another crack at the Mongol Invasions. Then again I never thought there would be a
Gempei War pack but was pleasantly surprised. If there is a ray of hope I think the DLC format makes it much easier to release expansions
than the old days when minority interests weren't catered for as much.

If it did happen the factions would be one interesting aspect. At the same time the first invasion was happening in 1274 the Yuan empire of Kubilai Khan
was still fighting the Southern Sung Chinese and didn't overcome them until 1279. Ex-Sung forces were used in the second invasion attempt in 1281
and they were recorded as having knowledge of catapults, exploding bombs, rockets and possibly even early handguns.

Japan was relatively united under Hojo clan dominance but there were still many clans and seething resentments. Responsibility for the defense was given
to the clans of Kyushu and western Honshu (Nagato) with the Shoni of Chikuzen in charge along with other Shugo such as the Otomo, Adachi, Shimazu and Mii.
Within a couple of years of the defeat of the last Mongol invasion, civil war again broke out in Japan following the death of the Regent Hojo Tokimune and it
was to claim the lives of Shoni Kagesuke and Adachi Yasumori.
