    Icon1 Alexander Expansion

I know it is way too early to ask CA about expansions granted the game isn't even close to being released in its full version.

However, I started thinking back and realized how much I really did enjoy the Alexander expansion, to me it was an amazing game, I was always interested in Greek history and especially Alexander.

Would you be interested in seeing an Alexander expansion when the time comes?

Not really. I'd rather see something new, like the fall of the Regnum Romanum in 509 BC.

Not much to do about that,he was essentially just pushed out of the city by the populants. There was no civil war or anything.

It would quite interesting to see Alexander be brought into 2013 and I would certainly buy it but I dont know if they would redo it..

I think an expansion around its time frame (or a little earlier than Alexander) but not mainly focused on him would be better.

They could do something else. It is one thing to do a sequel to a great game, but a sequel for the expansion? Nah, maybe a DLC - since they said they will continue the DLC policy... They could very well make a 2nd Punic war expansion, a Hannibal or something. Or a Caesar campaign, who knows. But something related to Rome.

I totally agree. The only reason I would play this would be to teach Alexander his place in the hierarchy of monarchs as the Achaemenid Empire.

I would rather see a remade Barbarian Invasion. To me it has much more potential.

That would be very hard. Alexander is in his own league, above everyone else, as the greatest general that the Ancient world ever saw. Now as for an expansion I would rather see something else...

well, I have to disagree with this. He wasn't the greatest general, not even close compared to Hannibal and Caesar. He was a good, even great leader, but general? The man who rushes with his cavalry vanguard into the fray at the beginning of the battle and leaves his diadochi to clean up the mess? Nah, not the greatest general

I would accept a comparison with Caesar as a General,(i really think alexander was far superior)
But i wouldnt even speak the name Alexander in the same breath with Hannibal, he was(Hannibal)a rational tactician, a very very clever one, but an awful general .
    Anyway the debate is futile.

Unlike Caesar & Hannibal, Alexander never lost a battle, ,

As Beregond said, he is not necessarily the greatest general. And as far as leaders go, you need only look back 200 years ago, to Cyrus the Great. He conquered the largest empire the world had seen so far (like Alexander), starting as just the ruler of Persis, a vassal of the Median Empire. But unlike Alexander he consolidated his empire, creating a successful multicultural government and laws (which cared about human rights).

Lol. U are right, Genghis Khan would beat Alex any day of the week.
Regarding the xpack I think barbarian invasion is a great idea, I haven't played Rome TW so it won't mind a remake of Barb invasion with enhancements & extra stuff.

The man didn't have the chance to set the new empire although he gave some signs of cosmopolitanism.
I really want to see how exactly failed in every other aspect.
    Educate us please.
Well I won't say that he failed in every other aspect. He had great leadership qualities, but he is quite over-rated due to being from a western civilization. There were certainly few generals that were better than him or equal in terms of strategy, tactics & overall empire management like Genghis Khan of Mongols who conquered more than 4 times land than Alex despite having a terrible start compared to Alex.

Regarding his death IIRC he started over consuming alcohol & that started his decline so he is partly responsible for the collapse of the empire unlike Genghis or Timur who even after conquering a huge empire tried to maintain themselves in good physical condition.
I would recommend u to read the autobiography of Tamerlane aka Timur who describes issues in detail about the aspects which can cause a decline of great & capable man.

They better save any Alexander stuff for some future Hellenic total war, the only reason why i would consider this for a RTW2 expansion is so i can forget the boring one from RTW.

For a future hellenic TW! So you are basically saying never to have that expansion released.

I would like them to increase the time frame much like Shogun's 2 DLC, where they first moved backwards with Rise of the Samurai incluiding factions from that time and then forwards with Fall of the samurai incluiding factions, new technology etc.etc.etc..
