CTD In (mostly) Vanilla Julii Campaign - Barbarian Related?
Hey, IDK if anyone even hangs out here any more, but I just decided to get back to playing RTW, and since I can't stand having shirtless barbarians but wanted to play Vanilla I modded the barbarian entries in descr_model_battle and replaced them with units from various mods. I then tested every single barbarian unit, and they all work great. So, I started a Julii campaign, and got playing. Sent an army to Greece, invaded there, played the battles, no problems, got a good cash farm on the Peloponnesus going, and then decided to turn to Gaul. I sent Manius Julius out alone, took Patavium and Mediolanium using the auto_win cheat because I was low on funds for a real army, and then moved on into Gaul. I took Massilia and Segestica both by autoresolve with no issues, then besieged Narbo Martius. When I wanted to fight that battle out, I hit fight battle and halfway through loading the game crashed. So I reloaded the campaign and tried again, same problem. So I autoresolved. Then later I moved on and besieged Lemonum, with the same results as Narbo Martius. So I bribed a German family member and fought a battle with him, and field battles work fine with barbarians, but then a German army besieged a fort in the Alps and when I sallied out to fight them I got the same CTD as I had in Gaul. It seems anything that involved barbarians and sieges results in CTD, but field battles with barbarians work fine and sieges and field battles with anyone else works fine. So what's the issue there? Did my auto_win cheat screw up my save game?
I'll start a German campaign and invade Gaul to test, but I doubt it'll be different.
