How do you trigger the Marian reforms as Rome?

I believe the Marian reforms are trigged when you build an imperial palace in any province outside of Rome.
IIRC in 4.0 you need to build latifundiae in a number of Italian provinces, mirroring the disappearance of smallholders that led to the RL Marian reforms.
Thanks for the responses, I have a number of Imperial cities outside of Italy (plus many in Italy) and all of Italy that can construct that upper level farm has done so. . .
My empire is huge approximately encompassing the historical roman empire at it's peak. . . perhaps it's a ratio that I need to get???
Any other ideas would be great, or where the trigger file is located so I could check it out.
Thanks again, really looking forward to getting those reforms.
Look in the script files in the ExRM folder, and it's in the biggest one. Search for the keyword marian, and the conditions should be there, as well as the cities that count towards the total.
Ah shoot I cannot build higher tier farms in Maleventum, as well as some other places (outside of Italy), also my empire has greater then 25 provinces. . . So I'm going to assume that it just did not fireanyone have an idea how to force it to fire the reforms? Or a way to force the reforms?

Why can't Maleventum build a higher tier farm?
I'm sure QI tested this before the open beta release... we made it a specific target to get these scripts sorted for the open beta![]()

It seems at least in my game that the level of farms i can upgrade to is directly linked to base fertility. . . as in a province with half a percent base farm can only build a level 3 farm, a province with 1% base farm can build a level 4 farm, and for the uppermost level of farm (The Latifundium) the province needs to have a base of 1.5% I thought this was intentional, so your saying its a bug???
And it's not a big deal i just changed the conditions of the Reform to include Italian cities that can build the last tier farms in it.\
I realized that had I waited long enough the reforms would have triggered anyway at turn 600 I think? so that means 130BC?

I was going to make a thread but thought I could just ask here.. How is the Carthaginian reform triggered?
LOL my mod to the script did not work at allNot sure why all the cities that can build farms have, all of the conditions have been met, if anyone has any ideas about this that would be great, I really don't want to wait tell 130bc to find out if or if not the reform fires
Oh never mind I forgot the part about it needing to be greater then turn 399. . . So should put me at 30 or so years to go.

Where did you find that condition? I had no idea.

Go to Data\Scripts\ and continue, and it's the biggest script file in there. Remember to back up the file before fiddling around with it.
I just thought it was somewhere in the Documentation, I knew that it was going to be in the script text file though (but thanks on the heads up on which on which file it is!)

Hi!
Sorry to bring up the matter again but I just can't trigger the Marian reforms. My stats are as follow:
Mediolanum - Large Town Professional Farming
Patavium - Minor City Farm Consolidation
Bononia - Large Town Professional Farming
Ariminum - Large City Farm Consolidation
Arretium - Minor City Professional Farming
Ancona - Minor city Farm consolidation
Rome -Capital Latifundia
Capua -Large City Latifundia
Corfinum -Minor City Farm Consolidation
Maleventum -Large Town Professional Farming
Croton - Large Town Professional Farming
Tarentum - Large City Farm Consolidation
So what am I doing wrong!?![]()
Someone?
I think there's a mistake in the script. The script requires 3 or more latifundiae to be built in the Italian cities, but only 2 of them (Roma, Capua) have the ability to build them. Go into the script file and change the 3 to 2, and it should work. NB. It's the largest file in the scripts folder, and remember to back up before you change anything.
Or you could wait until turn 400 (180BC)
Oh. Roma and Capua only have the capabilities to develop that far because they have a base farm level of 3? If that is the case (I don't know what QI did with the scripting and farms, I just have a rough idea), then I would prefer we give another region a base farm level of 3, so that people need to spread development around rather than just developing up Roma and Capua.
Oh and there is that minimum turn requirement as well.

so the Marian reforms will come automatically by 180 bc then?
