Default Do we really want Crusader Kings 2 + Total War?

Looking through a lot of the suggestions thread, it seems like people want a lot of Crusader Kings 2 features. Expanded family control, more in depth diplomacy, and more complicated economic system.

Now I really do like Crusader Kings 2, I have played a lot of Paradoxes strategy games, but Crusader Kings was the most complicated and hardest to learn to me. If we combined both games, Rome 2 would probably be the most deep, complex game ever.

What do you think? How much more depth and complexities do we really want?

honestly crusader kings is one of the easiest grand strategy games pumped out in recent years. when i say easiest i dont mean gameplay difficult but acesability. i would welcome many things from crusader kings 2 and others i woundn't .for one i woudlnt want to need a reason to attack somebody but also i also like many things such as ur family , there can be revolts within ur lands, and more. also i like how you care about ur leader in crusader kings 2 . u raise them from a young age to gain favourable traits and those who u dont find favourable u take care of in a variety of ways.

Crusader Kings was the most complicated Paradox game you've played?

    Really?

Honestly, there are many things that Total War could take from CK to make a better game. The diplomacy, for one thing, and, as someone else mentioned, the warscore.

I wouldn't mind TW becoming more complicated in diplomacy and economics.

I'd welcome some Paradox-level depth to TW, actually.

More complicated in diploamcy? Yes much more please.

More complicated in economy? No thanks, terrible idea, as a ruler of a state I wouldn't want to have to meddle with economical details.

Improved diplomacy, connected to political elements of the game would be great. Concerning economics, if the trading priorities would at least justify, along with diplomacy, the reasons why factions would establish treaties, then I would already be satisfied.

warscore wouldn't work in this setting, maybe for empire, NW, were the big nations act like a world police, but in Shogun 2, and FOTS, they have there own version of a warscore, the meter that increases with every region you take. But this era, is about conquering, and dog eat dog, the only thing that can control expansion is a supply and manpower resource or somthing, to show the limits of the empire becoming stretched.

I think you got that wrong, Warscore would work perfectly in this setting. The warscore is a combination of popular support, divisions/units left, regions and the safety/control of your capital. I don't know about you but these all sound like things that nations have always had to deal with.

I see, want to use it to limit the amount of regions that can be pinched within your warscore. Could allow the ai a bit of time to catch up with player expansion, but then there would have to be prestige, so some form of penalty is taken, since it was a era, treatys were broken all the time.

or do you mean a form of jingoism with war exhaustion??

I'd love to see CA stretch out the development of the game out to 3.5 years, and make it so you need 10 GBs of RAM, just for the ultimate EU3/Total War dream.

Well, it would be a good way to force the AI into diplomacy. As is, the AI will never give up, until it's totally destroyed.

    Which, personally, I don't like.

Never played Crusader Kings, but based on this:
Expanded family control, more in depth diplomacy, and more complicated economic system.

I don't think that the two would work together. Total War games are more about separate states. CK2 is about power struggles between families. I'd much rather TW crossed with EU3.

If Rome 2 has the feature to control a specific family (within a state, not RTW's three families) it will be very cool.

But unlike Crusader kings, there is no feudal system here so family can't continue to survive after its nation be destroyed.

A warscore would put an end to the RTW tradition of AI nations fighting to the end in a war that they started like its WW2 or something. It might not have to be a warscore but there ought to be some kind of system that gauges how much of a beating a country can take before it wants to surrender.

Also war goals would help stop the constant wars of extermination too. And the less factions destroyed early in the game the more late game variety there will be.

That being said one thing I do not wish CA to adopt from Paradox games is the difficulty in getting a war started. If we don’t have a reason to fight we can just make one up on the fly. Just pick a goal and go to war.

Judging by what CA have said about R2 thus far it seems they want to go in that direction.
