    Default New installer

Currently, we've got lots of error that are caused by the installer, so for 2.6 I'm going to make a new one which will contain everything.
However, I'm unsure about how you prefer installers.

-Would you rather have something like what we have currently, several parts that need to be in the same folder, and then only one file needed to install them?
-Or several exe that have to be installed one after the other?
-Or more simply a zip archive cut in several parts?

Also, what size would you rather have for the parts? There's about 3GB of data that can be compressed to 1.2-1.5GB.
    -250MB chunks, so 5/6 parts.
    -500MB chunks, so 3 parts.
    -750MB chunks, so 2 parts.
-One huge installer at 1.2-1.5GB. The problem with this solution is to find somewhere to host the file, and something decent if possible. Gamefront is capped at 1GB.

I'm especially keen to hear people that are not very comfortable with mods installation.

PS : This does not mean 2.6 is going to be released soon, I'm gathering information.

My own opinion is that the less small files to deal with the better. So I'd go with the largest size parts you can find a host for and one file to install them. This is coming from someone who does not install many mods.

Please for the love of god do not upload on anything but gamefront. Gamefront is just 30x faster than everything else. So 750MB at max!

One file means less hassle. Personally, I don't care for download speed so much, I download the mod just one time, and when 2.6 comes out it's christmas anyway, even if I have to wait for the download. (Hopefully we don't have to wait until actual christmas )

What I can do is one big installer, and two 750MB archives.

Now, if someone knows a good free site for a file that large, I'm really interested.

I find the current installation quite nice - just download 3-4 large pieces and 1 small .exe file to start the installation .It would be nice to have it all as one file ,but that will be more difficult for you guys,to find a place to upload it.

I'd love if we can do 1 1.4 gig file and then a two 750mb files as option.

*I tried yesterday to load the fans beta update here( 2.5), and couldn't load, i tried all sites, the first one was slow and never loaded after 2 attempts. The last 2, my Mcafee stopped it. I never had this problem before.

One big one, seems for easier too install for RS2 as a Steam user. At least I hope. Been dying too play this mod for a few months now but can't seem too figure out the download path at all for steam and always get errors. The big one would seem easier but I wouldn't know.

I've never had any issues with the current system, but out of the above, I'd go with the three 500mb chunks.

I've voted for just the one installer, but am ambiguous about the size of downloads. However, as I know it's going to be well over 1Gb and probably around 2Gb then it's going to have to be in more than one part.

I would therefore suggest something like the 500Mb elements V2.0 is now (and depending on the total size - ie if a bit less than 1.8GB, then 3 lots of 600Mb). This is not only suitable for most download sites I believe, but also fits easily on a writeable CD for backing up, saving, or porting to another PC (the standard minimum).

I'll also bear in mind that not everyone has fast internet connections.

Because I've been testing on a separate machine as well I have also installed about 10x since the first download and can only then support the 'easier' idea of a single installer with the separate parts alongside it. If that installer, as it appears to now indeed, checks the separate downloads and informs you of any problems, before being simply pointed at the installation folder you want - then it has worked like a dream every time.

Using any subsequent over-writing from even well constructed download patches is always a bit fraught even though you might know what you're doing.

So, my vote's for: a single installer; multiple downloads sized to suit; place in one folder; and Run.....

The only problem here is if you have one big installer those whose internet is not reliable may have trouble downloading so howbout both one whole installer along with the separate parts with one installer for those whose internet is unreliable.

sadlogic has found a site that looks promising.
So what I will do is :
    -One installer, huge size.
-Probably three zip files (~500MB) for mac users and people who need smaller files.

Nothing is set in stone though, so keep on voting/replying.
