Default No Dyck, but got a Beddow

"No, at this stage CA haven’t asked me. I believe Richard Beddow is writing the music for Rome II."

If I recall correctly Beddow did the music for Empire and Napoleon.

Empire was meh except for the eastern music, but Napoleon was okay.

    Cue rage.

Shame, I still listen to the RTW CD I got with the game. Dyck is a master at the music.

Rome II needs Jeff. Rome I's soundtrack is memorable and needs to be at least echoed in Rome II (similar to what they did in Shogun 2 with some of Shogun 1's music).

Me too, they should bring him back to score RTW 2...

    I love the soundtrack

Ugh, the music for Empire was such a huge snore fest. After listening to enough loading screen music I had no choice but to shut it off completely.

However, in the mans defence it was somewhat fitting to the time frame, but it was still very vey boring. I really hope they would bring dyck back for R2TW, however they are very set on this dark theme, so who knows maybe Beddow is the best choice.

Fall of the Samurai? Thats some of his best work yet. He also came back for Shogun 2. ETW and NTW was Richard Beddow, and it was fitting music for the period, but it was not as epic as Jeff's scores. I hope CA listens to the fans and brings Jeff back for ROME II. They could even have a collaboration between Jeff and Richard for the game's score and it would turn out amazing .

That's disappointing. Nonetheless, I enjoyed Richard Beddow's work on Napoleon.

QFT. Specially if the trailer music was made by Jeff, it was awesome. Empire soundtrack bored the hell out of me. And Jeff is not only about game music, he also is the one that makes the awesome credits music with his wife singing.

Could be because Rome 2 is still in Pre-alpha stages and CA is not even asking people to make the soundtrack yet. Though, strangely enough, according to Wikipedia Van Dyck is composing the music for Rome 2.

Wikipedia is not a reliable source. Beddow has been comfirmed to be making the music.

If we ask for him enough on the forums and requests to CA the might ask him back. It worked for Starcraft II in bringing back the original voice of Jim Raynor, so it can work here as well!

Dyck would be better choice. but, I think, Beddow will make great music for this legendary game.

Hopefully some of his old Rome music gets reused.

That's... mildly disappointing. I agree with Empire's soundtrack being slightly boring, and the soundtrack of the original Rome is in my opinion the best soundtrack of a strategy game ever. Medieval II also contains very good music. Nevertheless, I choose to be optimistic, and however boring the ETW soundtrack may have been, Richard Beddow seems to be a fairly good composer. Of course it's hard to follow up on those great soundtracks by van Dyck, but there are other aspects about Rome II I consider more important than the music. Hopefully, it will be a magnificent game all in all, with either good or not so good music...
