Default Cost difference between limited editions and DLC

Hello, i usually hang out at the RTW Republican era mods side of the forums but now i am considering getting S2TW and FOTS because i love the samurai era, remember suckling the ol' STW tit back when i was a young lad) and because the updated graphics, features, and ai developments at battle and campaign levels.

Long story short i want your opinions and analysis of current value between the hard copy limited editions (because i am limited in bandwidth and data usage) versus getting the cheaper basic edition hard copies and downloading the extra content.

Right now online i can find FOTS for the same price as the limited edition, ~$24. I can find the regular S2TW for $13 versus the limited edition S2TW for $30. If i buy the Hattori clan pack for $5 its the same extra content from the limited edition and costs $11 less total. However, though the FOTS hard copy editions are the price, there isnt much difference between the two, except that the Saga clan is included with the limited edition. But the regular edition game download is only $8 right now. At that price dumping $20 for all four added clans seems affordable (even if they should've been included in the first place).

Right now it all depends on my internet situation and whether the time of downloading all this "extra" content will take the same amount of time it takes to ship the actual editions. CA/Sega there are still people out there that love Total War and are willing to pay the extra dollar to buy a complete game without downloading (and paying) the other 25% of the game. I just want to buy the game i want once and will d/l and install free patches for as long as play the game, but downloading the rest of the game defeats the purpose of buying the latest full edition of the game, just in case PC or Steam crashes and i have to start from scratch. Rant over, i apologize.

    Thoughts?

The extra content is actually downloaded when you buy the game, bt you need to unlock it. This means that you do not need to download anything extra when you but the extra content.

    That's the good news.

The bad news is that you'll be forced to download everything up front. With the patches and extra content, even with hardcopy S2 and FOTS, you're looking at 8gb of content you'll still have to download.

If you buy S2 hardcopy alone, you're looking at something like 16gb that you'll have to download up front.

If you get the FotS hardcopy, the DL is probably a lot less (as it includes S2 data on the first discs). Most likely only patches since it was released

Maybe, but the patches are grand in scope. You're download will still be measured in gb's.
