Agreed, I check this thread everyday for news

Questions spartan_warrior: do you know if it is possible to add factions with these new tools?

Yeah your right there... good point. But certainly for Rome 2. We might get some regional mods. A proper Hegemony Total war for Rome II.

But then why are you working on a world map if there is no new animations?

Possibly for mods based on other parts of the world in the same time period as Shogun 2?
Under the patronage of Basileos Leandros I

I am not working on a world map, just Europe and parts of Asia and Africa, and for that I am only working on it as far as establishing the underlying geography, so things such as the heightmap, rivers, etc. I am not doing anything with regions, roads or trade routes, as we don't know exactly how they will work in Rome 2; we know for sure that regions are handled differently. But the rudimentary geographic base might still be useful so that is why I am doing this.

And besides, a Europe map may be able to be ported to Empire or Napoleon, or it may be possible to port some of the animations from those games into Shogun for a mod (I won't be doing any of this, but it could be possible).

Really, I don't feel like I should have to justify whatever projects I intend to work on, its not like I have a monopoly modding the map, with the tools now, anyone can do it. All you need is 3ds Max 2010, which can easily be procured using the student license, as long as you don't intend to use it to make a profit. Also it's not like you need to be an expect with the software either, I have not used 3ds Max in almost 3 years and even then I only had a basic understanding to its functionality.

Might I suggest writing a tutorial for modding the campaign map so people can get into this more easily?

Very nice work Spartan Warrior! If it's not too much to ask, would a map of this part of the world be possible?

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

I think it would be a perfect base for a mod that's set in China. There have been so many TW mods but none of them actually covered the events that took place in that country, exept for abandoned projects. There are so many possible settings in this region. (Warring states, Han Dynasty, 3 kingdoms, mongolian invasion with the Song and Jin dynasty etc...)
I don't understand why there is such a huge lack of mods for it. The wars and armies were the craziest in the world, people think Rome was awsome, while it was nothing compared to the Qin and Han Dynasty...

I would love to see armies like this.

As has been said before, any map is possible once we get the super-textures going.

Just remember, you sill need to make all those models for the new countries armies, not just the campaign map.

I've uploaded a new version of stupid which should allow you to edit the Shogun 2 supertextures. It's still lacking the ability to create new supertextures of different sizes and to change the colours of the parchment map - I hope to add these in the relatively near future but I have very limited spare time at the moment. Editing the parchment map can be a bit fiddly because of the way the data is compressed in the file. If you're not getting good results, try changing editing programs. I found the gimp worked well and MS paint didn't. Alternatively you could just wait for CA to release their own tool.

Thanks for updating this, of course changing the dimensions of the supertexture and the parchment map are going to be important, but at least for now we have something to work with, until you have to time to add these abilities or if CA will release something.

I hope CA get onto it soon, it will make it easier for the community. It's not really fare how we have had to make our own tools for their game but luckily we have very talented people on TWC.

Hi, just to put a question. Has anyone able to put custom maps on the campaign map just yet?

You mean like making a battle map, and then making the game use that battlemap when fighting on the campaign?
