Formations 'flickering'

I noticed when I hold down spacebar to see where I've placed my units, the icons for them "flickers" rapidly. Considering this doesn't happen in Rome Total War, or BI... I'm not sure why Medieval 2 has this issue.

Any ideas what could be the cause?

By icons do you mean unit cards? Flickering is usually related to hardware so can you tell me your system specs?

For me holding spacebar only flickers the unit formation layout and nothing else & i suppose that's intended because it's a command under process.
