    Default Israel?

Is there any chance in heck that they might actually put Israel in the game?
I'm not sure about the time period, but I know that the Jews rebelled against the Selucids (1/2 Maccabees)..
..I'd frickin' love to play as Israel. At least add them in as an emergent faction.

There was no such thing as "Israel" at the time, during the early republic the Jewish people switched back and forth as subjects of the warring Seleucid and Ptolemaic Empires.

Hence why it would make a perfect emergent faction.
There was no Greece during the time of ETW, but given the right circumstances, it emerged.
The Temple was still there, the Jewish people were still there, the strive for Jewish freedom and independance was still there (Just read 1st and 2nd Maccabees in the Bible about the fight against the Selucids).

    Not true:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hasmonean_dynasty
From 110 BCE, with the Seleucid empire disintegrating, the dynasty became fully independent, expanded in to the neighbouring regions of Galilee, Iturea, Perea, Idumea and Samaria, and took the title "basileus". Some modern scholars refer to this period as an independent kingdom of Israel.[2] In 63 BCE, the kingdom was conquered by the Roman Republic, broken up and set up as a Roman client state.

They could represent the Jews as emerging faction.
Atleast some Semitic units should be implemented.

I had the impression that you referred to the whole timeframe of the game (last one ended 14 A.D.), however we not yet know specific starting date, the later it is set the more plausable they become as an semi-independant vassal that may break free, like how the USA were in ETW despite not actually existent at this time.

They'll start off under the Seleucids. Having the Maccabees emerge and rebel could be interesting, but I don't know how it would be worked in. TW games generally don't follow history once they start. I guess you could have some Jewish rebels in the Seleucid Empire mucking things up, and if you were the Seleucids you would have to crush them, and if you are a foreign power, you could support them in establishing an independent kingdom that is something like the Hasmonean Dynasty.

It would be Judea, and yes if we have emergent factions in Rome II as we surely must, that would make an ideal one.

Well that will all depend on how balanced the game is...

And yes full support for exterminating a settlement to be an option again. It was fairly common in antiquity.

Israel/Judea and Italia(intended as the Italic League) should surely be emerging factions,at least (modders will then make them playable).

    Yes, interesting.

Good idea. We can have angry role play threads where users recount with glee how they wiped Judea off the map.

But seriously it should be in the game, along with a bunch of other emergent/rebellious factions.

The People's Front of Judea as rebels (or the Judean People's Front).

Sounds like an interesting mini-game, choosing your faction's name. Splitters!

It would be really great having them emerge

Emergent factions in general would be nice. I'd like for the map to be similar to ETW/NTW in that there's no such thing as "rebels"--each territory can be its own independent faction thing. That'd be perfect for the Greek city-state system too, plus the multiplicity of eastern kingdoms after the Seleucids fell apart.

I've mentioned it in another thread. I have a feeling they'll include Judea as an emergent faction.

See EB for example. They named every city which was occupied by rebels after the historical
owners and cultures at the time.

Now that much detail and rosters for so many factions would be just awesome.
