Default Ninja and Geisha videos and Religions

Dear honourable creators of the best mod ever namely Ran no Jidai. I have been thinking about one thing. We all remember the cool videos of ShogunTotal War for the Ninja and Geisha assassinations. Would it be possible to inegrate those in Ran no Jidai? If not would it be possible to integrate similar scenes from Japanese movies? This is something I have always missed in RTW.
What religions will be represented in Ran no Jidai? Will there be a distinction made between Pure Land and Shingon or is it going to be general categories like Buddhism and Christianity?

    Thank you

    with respect and admiration

I doubt that these are possible fue to restrictions and hardcodes on the RTW engine.
But religionon the otherhand, well im not sure about that, but it works fine in BI, so if this uses the BI .exe then im sure religion will be in it.

As far as the team's discussion goes, we're thinking about including Ikkousyuu, Japanese polytheism(or Shinto-Buddhism), and Christianity, which will be availalbe after 1540's.

Now you might wonder what this "Japanese polytheism" is all about. The fact is, the majority of common people at the time didn't believe in any particular "religion", unless he or she was a devout Ikkou zealot or Christian. Simply put, this religion represents the majority of Japanese commoners, who believed and prayed for whatever there was -- Shinto gods or even Buddha, or holy figures that were created as a result of Buddhism-Shintoism combination throughout the Japanese history.

There's a hardcoded limit of 3 religions in BI, but three should be just right to represent the religious trend in Japan during the Sengoku period.

Just a suggestion but could you guys replace the term Japanese polytheism with the term Shinbutsu Shugo. The reason why I am not happy with the term polytheist is that:
    a. it presuposes that Japanese people conecptualised somthing like polytheism
    b. it's a rather Eurocentric term likely to project European perceptions on Japanese realities
    c. at the core of this synthesis of Buddhism and Shinto was the Shingon school that believed in the concept of Dainichi Nyorai as the Primordial Buddha, unborn, self-existent, creator of all thing and of whom all kamis, Buddhas and boddhisattvas were just emanation. This corresponds to Indian theistic beliefs of one Divine Reality both immanent and transcendent.

    Thank you

Yes, we were having some troube with the name. Actally, "polytheism" is just the word I came up with when wrote the above post, so it doesn't represent the modding team's opinion at all. :original: In reality, we ended up with Shinto-Buddhism temporarily, but, as you know, there doesn't seem to be the right English word for it.
The word Shinbutsu Shuugou is exactly the word that should go in, but the only problem with this is that not everyone understands Japanese. We were trying to find an English word that still conveys the feeling of the religious trend, but no luck as yet.

I for one don't want to follow the EB-ish path, where even stable is called in unrecognizable tongue, but since Shinbutsu Shuugou is not a common noun, there's a fair chance it gets adopted.

I personally feel that keeping the Japanese term Shinbutsu Shugo would be best, provided a few lines of explanation are added so as to inform those players that are not used to such terminology. After all Total War remains a great educational tool as well as a great game.

Oh yes, I forgot, you can't add any description for religions in the settlement detail scroll. But perhaps providing a description in the religious building will do. :original:

If you wish I can provide the explanations. I would actually be honoured to do so...to be honest. This is such a great mod !!!
