Will you be using a tech tree to implement the various military and political reforms that occurred during the time period?
Similarly, will each faction have it's own unique tech tree, providing upgrades tailored to that faction?
Will the First Legionary Cohort finally be the elite of the citizen cohorts this time around or will they once again be trumphed by the Praetorian parade regiment? I assume that the Urban Cohort firefighters will be left out this time.
Also will we see less Arcani Roman Ninjas and more Auxillia units?
If historical accuracy gets in the way of fun then I wouldn't want it.
I love the Katana Samurai and the Katana Cavalry...
Guess what, in the Sengoku era Warfare, Cavalry was hardly used in melee fights, horses were used to move from place to the other quickly, and then the soldiers would dismount to fight.
If CA stuck with extreme historical accuracy, Cavalry units would play minimal role in Shogun 2... and that's not something I'd like.
Eh? Whats wrong with katana/naginata armed samurai and katana armed cav ? What units would you have liked now you've removed the majority of weapons of the time ?
Also i agree Katsusand. There are far too many people concerned with historical accuracy. They would seem happy to remove literally all the fun from the game if it would mean it was 100% historically accurate and realistic. It's mostly seems to be old members (assuming they're old, they have several thousand posts), who've all turned into massive trolls.

My post was a response to a poster claiming that there wouldn't be any historicaly innaccurate units due to Lusted, I just pointed out that there had been several such since he joined the team. You read it out of context, the main point was that I didn't want to see fantasy units like Urban Cohorts that adds nothing to the game and are just silly elite versions of Praetorians. I don't mind creative fantasy units like Head Hurlers though.
Yeah, features like the lobby where everyone could be together no matter the timezone or continent. Or the custom battles vs Avatar mod. I really hope people will come back to frequently using custom battles, it's much more fun than the Avatar. (for a game like Rome at least, where you already have unit diversity, you don't need silly customization to tell them apart)
RTWRM - back to basics
Hi jack quick question i hope you can answer
In the screens, you can see "white" carthagians and "red" romans, does this mean the factions will have the traditional colours?
Also will we see variation between equipment within a unit/legion? various shield designs for hoplites etc?

In that screenshot you can also see archer wearing blue tunics who I assumed to be Carthaginian. That said, I'm just as curious about faction colors, I hope that at the very least they'll be more subtle than in Shogun 2, Medieval 2, or the original Rome. Don't need any more neon purple factions, please!![]()

I have a question pertaining to easier to control army/individual units. It would be great if you could answer this for me.
Will horse archers be able to employ hit and run tactics by you, the player just clicking on a "harass" button and then click on the enemy unit you want them to harass? as in they will keep making rounds of swooping in, then running away and firing backwards? Always trying their best to maintain a certain distance between them and the enemy they were shooting at. that would be really cool in my opinion since skirmish never really worked well for horse archers in your games. and circle and shoot also would end up with your cavalry archers tangled in melee.
Will we be able to select where our army will retreat to on the campaign map? Now it seems like it's very random, but I've seen that it mainly chooses to garrison the army in a nearby settlement. But still, it would be nice to be able to select where to retreat to (Like a general would be able to, he doesn't really say "RUN, and then picks a random spot", he carefully chooses where to withdraw to.
Ok, here goes:
One of the miriad of aspects that I loved about Rome was the fact that campaign duration was silly long, you had a huge amount of turns in which to complete your objective, something that didn't translate into the following games.
Are we going to receive the same turn feast in Rome II or is it going to be a rush to victory?
This...in Shogun2 I was like "WHAT?!? Only 20 turns left to conquer half of Japan?"
While in Rome you literally had all the time you needed...I ended up conquering the world with 200 turns left in the first campaign, I finished.
Don't get me wrong. I don't mind being under pressure, but I think it should just be an option.
It would be great if the World Domination Campaign really gave you nearly unlimited turns.

Jack will every faction have hero units or will it be just the main factions (Rome, Carthage, Macedon etc)??
Will there be more than one German or Gallic faction? Because historically these factions were made up of many sub-tribes and were not united under one leadership.
It gets harder and harder fighting for what`s right (asking for Steam Options) when a Mod himself is censoring me. But that`s how it is when one asks for what is right- One has to expect great opposition from some of those in power.![]()
