Jack, simple question. Can we get some desktop wallpapers happening? Plus an idea of the CA development team structure. What percentage or number of staff and resources are roughly going into the faculties of AI, graphics, historical research, etc...
Formally known as 'Marshal Beale' - The Creator the Napoleon TW mods - 'Napoleon Order of War' and 'Revolution Order of War'
if by exclusive content jack means different pre order bonus for each different retailer. I think I will wait for the goty edition. if there isn't a goty, I will skip this. I don't like buying incomplete games. I don't care if it is the truth or not, but that is how these "exclusive content" makes me feel.
edit: I don't care about dlcs after release. but different pre order bonuses is a big "NO"

I realise people may not have realised I was talking about this thread I setup http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=548136 in which unique Total War: Rome II content for TWC will be posted.
There is an answer relating to DLC in that thread, and as said there we will talk more about it closer to release.

Yeah you're absolutely right.. allthough i wouldnt mind the first 2 examples as dlc later on, nothing wrong with that.. third one however would only be nice if it expanded the campaignmap.. actually the best dlc would be just large chunks of the world added with new cultures and factions.. but theyve never done that so far.. all their expansions arent really expansions but more like very sophisticated modsExclusive mini campaign focused on something
Exclusive 2-3 extra ancient battles scenario
Extra playable faction ingame and multiplayer
No, just no. Gameplay affecting items should not be pre-order/limited edition bonuses, as they'll merely be resold later. Make all factions, units, scenarios, and campaigns to everyone who buys the game, and put actual bonus goodies like a soundtrack/maps/fold-out tech trees like from the original Rome in the limited edition/pre-order purchases.
First off: Thanks for wanting to answer possible questions (on exclusive content).
Here are some of mine.
* Will there be a way to buy a sort of pass that grants all future-DLC?
* Will there be pre-order exclusives and if so, will it be that shop A has exclusive A, etc., so it won't be possible to get all the pre-order exclusives? (like Empire Total War), I hope not.
* I like the ideas of mini-campaigns as DLC (Like Napoleon's Peninsular). Any plans for making those? (Plenty of campaigns that are worth 'zooming in', eg. Caesar's Gaul, Pyrrhic War, First Punic (sicilian) War, Iberian Peninsula, Jewish Revolts, etc.)
* Any plans on Workshop-integration?
* Will pre-marian set formations be possible (velites/hastati/principes/triarii in checkerboard)? (those were really missing in Rome 1)

Jack,
A question about the new engine.
Will the new (heavily upgraded) Warscape engine be a native 64 bit engine or is it going to be a 32 bit one like the current Warscape engine used for S2/FoTS.?
I'm all for historical accuracy for uniform types, buildings, government etc etc. But people, such as most of you chirping on about historical accuracy forget that Total War has never been about it totally in term of where you take your nation.
Rome never stuck to a single idea. When they conquered the world they learnt so much from the other nations that their Government, Armies and clothes changed. What if Rome conquered lands all the way to China, who knows what they may have become?
Supporter of Facial Hair for extra Manliness.
Paying 50$ for planned content above a 50$ game is not something Id want
Let them make all future DLCs free for those who get limited edition or a preorder hehe yeah that would happen.
About Rome 2, will there be a day one Blood DLC option (I guess you cant put it directly in with some countries forbidding selling the game to minors with it)
If so will it be free for LE version![]()
There we go better title nowsorry for any confusion caused.
As said above we will be talking more about DLC when it is closer to release.

I guess what we should really be getting at is there should be a Collector's Edition with EVERYTHING, even if you have vendor specific pre-order bonuses. I don't really think your vendor specific clan/faction bonuses really helped anybody's sales anywhere (though I don't have the data, I'd imagine people shopping with Origin or something would barely know what the factions were).
Will you be able to change your government type (ie. democracy - tyranny, republic - principate etc)?
As it was a known feature in Empire (using Warscape); surely it would be a good idea to implement in RTW2 (ie. Principate = brief revolution and faction leader name changes from Consul Marius - Dictator/Emperor Marius or Tyranny = Archon Gylippus - Gylippus the Tyrant etc).
Jack, please answer this: game would be Steam only? Because my house still got the dial-up connection and Steam does not load or work properly
Some questions for Jack Lusted:
1/Will there be siege weapons (balista, assault tower, ladders...)?
2/Will all the units and maps be available in custom battles, multiplayer, campaign (locking things is very annoying and I am not sure that it's good at all for the quality of the game)?
3/Will we have boardings of quality with for example that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corvus_(weapon)?oldid=
4/ Eye candy of the naval battles: ramming in FOTS is a bit disapointing: we don't see dammages in the ship, ramming is not enough violent, there must be a special destruction animation with pieces of wood flying etc). So will it be improved?
5/ Will there be detailled units like in NTW or will it be generic units like in ETW?
thanks!
Does CA have any comment on the numerous worries/ideas/complaints/suggestions in this thread?

hmm, my previous post seems to have completely missed the mark
from the previews, it seems like we can control legions now. but can we still control individual companies/groups/squads like the previous games?
how is the campaign map compare to shogun 2 in terms of army movement choke points? S2's map was 100% choke points with only 1 way to move the army in every single campaign. that got really, really boring for me.
