Under the patronage of Nihil. So there.
Just a quess -_- I'd love to see barbarian or anything for that matter. Can anyone explain to me what kind of armour the one is with the 3 circles on it. Iv never seen that kind
I enjoyed the new ideas ,specially the height for the men.But if the men will have diferent height ,it would be more awsome to see the horses with diferent sizes according with the nations.
A iberian horse was alot smaller but very resistant, germanic horses would be huge horses, etc, etc.

Jack Lusted wrote in his last post (Exclusive Content and Dev chat for Total War Center) :
My question is about skeletons.Q. How tall will soldiers be, will soldier height vary inside a unit and between Romans and Germanics, and why do some shields seem to be smaller than they were in reality?
A. The base skeleton for soldiers in Rome II is 1.7m tall or around 5’ 6”. We will be portraying height differences between say the Romans and the Germanics, though there is a limit to how much we can scale the skeleton before animations start to look weird in combat. There will also be variation in height between soldiers in the same unit for the first time in a Total War game.
Will it be possible for modder to add new skeletons or will they be hardcoded like for ETW/NTW ?
Even if adding new skeletons and animations need a large amount of work, it is the kind of feature that should and even must be possible.
New skeletons are needed for "fantasy" mods, of course, but they will be of great help, for exemple, to create different horses (size) or adding ox.
I ask for modability, too much "little details" were hardcoded in ETW/NTW/S2TW.
CA had to think about giving the possibility to modify the game.
Skeleton could be defined in db tables for example (skeleton name, filepath, etc.).
It's the same for flags, they could have been define in db tables (particle model shape, textures, etc.). Doing so, it could have been possible to create unique regimental flags in ETW/NTW.
Same for an "unit evolution system" using the same mechanism than "unit to government change" system in ETW. Instead of hardcoding the "replacing unit" function, it could have been a LUA script, or even easier for modders, a db table that would have tied technology, old unit, new unit, evolution cost and using a similar.
Will the later roman soldiers have less variety of armour and weapons per unit?
Because, when the roman army was reformed all the soldiers had the same standard armour.
Oh this is awesome news and updates thnx Jack!
indeed! thanks for the talkbalk, and those armours look great. Loving the variety so far... everything you guys are doing art-wise, just makes me more confident CA can back it up with gameplay. Cheers!

thanks for the update jack, hopefully within the next few days we will get a new faction reveal (hoping it's the Greeks) =)
Yay a new update! I'm impressed about finally getting different height soldiers, it's something we've been waiting for since we stopped having clone units in Med II. Just one question though, will we also be seeing the larger-girthed gentleman be making his appearance on the battlefield?
A semi-serious question by the way. While I'm joking about having a legion of fatties (although that could be understandable for militia), I do wonder if there is also going to be stockier and skinnier soldiers?

This is so great!
maybe there could be Bobz
Spolas and Italic disc plate looks awesome. I'd be curious to see the reference for the shoulder pieces for the Italian disc armor - not that I doubt their historicity, I just am unfamiliar with it but really like it.

I would like Jack to answer this question as well. I suppose just because they had the same weapons and armor doesnt mean that the roman empire diddnt improve. When they expanded afther Hannibal they must have improved their fighting techniques when facing Phalanxes, germanic barbarians, horsearchers and cataphracts etc etc. I quess new technology will bring new kinds of formations to face these different threats. Testudo`s, maybe different techs to improve on the discipline of infantry. So they can be used better offensively. They could make units behind the front row to take over exhausted units with fresh troops behind them to improve their stamina and maybe charge the enemy while they are winded. Relying on their good discipline.
Will normal infantry be able to use the pilum (a missile weapon)? Because previously you said that there would be no mixed weapons within a unit.
Sorry for my bad English![]()
