Perhaps i am a little late with this...But since the engine is a very modified warscape, well,I think we could forget about modding the map.The maximum you could do is something like Darthmod(campaign balance, new effects, battle balance, unit stats and stuff like this),correct me if I am wrong though...
Humble,I don't understand why would you want Rome 2 steam free, since almost every single game now is released via steam. I think steam is a pretty good service.

While your most likely right about not being able to add new regions or change borders I think we can pretty much add new factions or change some cities buildings.
Thats why speaking with CA now about regions is so important.
Honestly, while I agree with you I dont worry too much about this because several mods have added new units to both ETW and Shogun II. The same should be possible with Rome II.
Its the Campaign that is Important.
You hear that Lusted. Your a modder too... make sure the campaign department really makes a great campaign map.

I think he means like how games used to be. Steam takes the fun out of getting a hardcopy early. ARMA 2 for example only needs steam as a digital copy while my discs don't need it. I think if I wanted to use steam for it, I would just have to enter my cd key. I dislike steam too considering the TW series is the only PC games I have to use steam for, the others don't need it.
Back on DLC, I hope the do another blood pack like Shogun.

Finally got muh sharks.
The multiplayer of the Total war series is linked with steam(since Empire),how will you play it without steam?I just played multiplayer once or twice,so it doesn't really matter to me,but many people play online very often.
Don't forget CA - reimplement a "retraining option" for units, so as they can upgrade their armour/weapon improvements without the bloody need to train an entire new unit from scratch to get the improvements; you had this from Shogun 1, so reimplement it!!!
Also reimplement add/demand/give/cede regions/create vassals etc, and please create some half decent city types in the game! =)
Well Carthage was freaking amazing judging from the screenshots.
Will you be revealing more stuff at Rezzed?
I would have wished if you guys had kept it a secret longer.
Waiting that long kills hype and makes people feel discouraged.
Hopfully, we'll get some stuff for shogun 2.
Do you guys have more plans for shogun 2?
Sayonara, modding... That killed much of my hype right there.Q. Will there be DLC for Rome II?
Yes there will be DLC for Rome II. We will details this more closer to release and also talk about why we do DLC and why it is not cut content.
Too many are paranoid and schizophrenic with these dlc. Enough is enough, i'm sick of all these useless moaning and whining.
mad as if this was the biggest problem in the world!
I invite everyone to be more serene and serious. Time to grown up?
Do you even know the meaning of paranoia and schizophrenia or are you just pulling them out of your "behind" to appear smart?... Jesus F... christ...
Unlike you, there are those of us that actually has played the previous titles and seen the direction that CA has taken. Away from modding and in favor of DLC because people like you are not even questioning why you should pay for some crappy DLC that modders could make for free, at a much higher level of quality as well.
Perhaps you should do yourself a favor and purchase Rome or Medieval II and see the immense differences between a CA product and one that has been modified.

Hi Jack, just a couple of questions for me:
1: Will we only need to take the capitol to take the province, or will outlying villages also play a role in the conquest of a region?
2: Will elements of supply in the field effect our armies? During the war between Caesar and Pompey there was a lot of fighting over grain supply, and I know that much of the situation in Spain came out in Caesar's favor because he controlled the water.
3: Will we be able to sew dissent in other factions? it sounds like our own faction won't just be a monolithic structure, but instead competing personalities that may or may not work together. Will opposing factions be like this?
4: Do all the folks at CA know how EXCITED I AM?!?! (Seriously though, pretty excited.)
If you rep me, leave your name. I'll look more kindly on your future transgressions.
Will there be a single grand campaign spanning hundreds of years going by 2 turns per year (at least) or you will have several grand campaign according to early, middle and late so that the game can be more specific and featuring at least 4 turns per year (the minimum acceptable I guess).
I personally would love a game which have around 200-300 turns but with 4 or 8 turns per year so that characters can develop. I understand if that feature can't be revealed yet but just in case...
Will Rome II units features native names besides the usual hastati, principes and triaris ? Personally I don't mind as long as there's english translation of the unit names. It seems to be the case for current games sin ETW/NTW though it's a bit of a mixture.

Hey Jack. Just a couple of questions :
1. Rome II will have blood effects like blood pack DLC of S2 from the release or it will be a seperate DLC ?
2. Any new Multiplayer modes ? Or upgraded ones ( Co-op/Versus Campaign of 4 or more players ? )
3. Could you share any information about Greece ? Is there going to be as a single faction ? Or various cities-states like Sparta , Macedonia , Athens , Thebes etc ?
4. How many custom settlements like Carthage will be in the game ?
Thanks for your time![]()

Also Concerned about them simplifying/taking away micromanagement, this is what I love about shogun 2! Why take it away? Why? Why?
I am actually confused also about the fact that people have been wanting to know what the next total war game is going to be (the anticipation on the forum has been close to bursting point), hoping beyond all hope that it will be Rome 2. Creative assembly have actually done what the community wanted, made a TW rome 2, told us about it early so they can hear peoples views and requests and they even give us some early pics and a somewhat saucy game trailer... what I don't understand is why are people still not happy?
If deception is an art, then the world is full of artists!
Trust No One!
I think he means reducing the micromanagement as not having to plan the construction for 100 cities of your empire each turn, which is really annoying, every new turn opening the "completed constructions scroll" click to the city, que a new building, rinse and repeat, it was the most boring part and I am happy they cut down on it to a more centralized construction management.
Will we be able to name our legions ?
