    Default Empire Standards

Are the standards going to be changed for the Empire anytime soon? I don't think the banners that Imperial factions use now are represented as well as they could have been. In the board game Imperial factions use large banners that they carry into battle. In any event, they could be more elaborate and diverse. Some examples:

There is another mod for M2TW that has banners that are similar in style to the ones used in Warhammer, and they have different ones for each regiment at that. It's called for King or Country. (edit: I meant 1648, God help me.).

If it resources you lack, I actually have the Warhammer book, Uniforms and Heraldry of the Empire in .pdf format that has many designs used and general information/lore concerning the Empire, would you be able to make use of it? Maybe in the future more factions can have more elaborate looking flags to carry into the fight.

I don't think they have time to add these extras. I've been adding some over the top warhammer-esque standard bearers, including a middenland one to my submod. Adding different standard for every regiment is a huge task though, if you want each to be interesting and unique rather than just a pole with a flag.

The main point here as Reiksfart and Isilendil have alluded to, is the time taken to implement very detailed and complex banners for each faction. The sources you provided were freehand paintings for what looks like masterclass paint jobs that take world class painters months to achieve. Therefore for the mod, these have to be built from scratch which may take a week or more per banner when you factor in their other time constraints and projects; all for very little comparative reward at the end of the day.

Still, thanks for the post as I do enjoy seeing well-painted minis

I'm thinking of making a banners submod, in the hopes that its not too complicated to implement the flags for the regiments. I pictures I have in the book actually have pretty good pictures that wouldn't need to be edited much at all for textures. I'll try my hand at it and release it if all goes well

But over the top banners would be nice, I think it's worth working for.

EDIT: Also, Reiksfart, I've seen your new banners. They are in fact, really nice! I plan to go further by changing the vanilla ones for regular units from changing the pole and flag hanging on it to actual standards.

If you are motivated to do it then that is fantastic and I hope it all goes well

I found the model, no doubt the flag is attached to the standard bearer model. But where would the texture be for the banner?

To find the correct attachment.texture for Empire standard bearers you need to open the export_descr_unit, find the standard bearer officer in the unit you are looking for, then search the battle_models.db. That will list exactly which texture files include standard bearer textures. There are multiple attachment textures for each province in 'PROVINCES/attachmentsets' plus an attachmentsets folder in 'empire/model'.

Thank you. It should be in the attachment sets folder in "Provinces". They have many textures for officers in there, and I'm thinking I'll find banners there as well. This is also a matter of changing the model, and I think that will only have to be done a few times right? The same model will be used but with different textures?
