    Default Your biggest fears.

This is not a "this game will #@~45" thread, we still haven't seen anything. This is a thread were each player can tell what are they biggest fears about the game, or in other words, the weak gameplay features that you're not very convinced they will adress on this game. The idea of this thread is not to create panic, but to communicate to CA and coordinate forum members on some issues that perhaps they can change or add to the game during the alpha. Very unlikely i know, but doing it won't hurt our chances.

Remember, it has to be simple, so it's easy to read.

    Mine are:

    - That the campaign map won't have enought options that can add diversity and a unique feeling to each campaign and faction. In other words, that this game will also be monotonous after a while.

    - That sieges are going to lack the exictment of "defending minas tirith", adding more defensive buildings or traps, or barricades, or going inside buildings, making it a street by streer dirty and close fight, could do the work.

    - That they're not going to add stable and fluid multiplayer campaign with more than 2 players. I want to play a TW campaign the same way i can play a civilization V campaign, that could really add some life to the game.

    - That diplomacy won't allow you to have useful and loyal allies, and that the game will end on a "Total War" every time.

Those were mine. Wich ones are yours?.

And so the Romans have researched a new 'technology', called fast food hamburgers.

A veggie burger for you then?

    Anyway,

    1) as I said, flaming pigs and other fantasy units like head hurlers, screeching women, arcani, gladiators and more I forget to mention.

    2) poor AI and poor diplomacy options

    3) map all wrong or too simplistic with landmass shapes that make to sense, regions/provinces that prevent you from forming Roman provinces as we know them, rivers all located at different locations and cities in the wrong place. The map with its regions in ETW and NTW were such let-downs, that you'd start to wonder if CA can even handle reading maps.

no unity colours, as in "blue romans", "green gauls", "purple pathian" and so on.
I really like the way it looked, and besides if its still on warscape engine modders can easily fix it, for the peolpe who needs to have a brown mess, to move a round.

    I just like team colours.

My biggest fear is that people who came of age playing Rome: TW back in 2004 are going to spend the next year-plus obsessing over every little thing about Rome II.

That's not the point actually of this thread, i don't want silly complaints, i want ....mmm...how to say it...suggestions, mentioning the weak aspects of the game, all games has weak aspect, so which ones are those aspects that you don't want to see on RTW2?. That's what i meant with "biggest fear".

Youll need a mod to do it
and if you do my vote needs changed from faction detail

Yeah, i just realized that xD. I was used to other forum where you could edit them. If any modder please add

    - That the game won't be more moddable than S2TW.
    - That the production time is too short for giving a quality product.

Although, that second point, i would take it with a grain of salt, it could be a reasonable time considering they DOUBLED S2TW team, i mean, S2TW team was a lot bigger that the one that made Empire, so, they have "few time", but a lot of people working on it.

I aplogize for not being on topic. I was honestly expressing my biggest fear.

I am interested in Rome II but the obsession on this forum which has shone through today with recreating Rome: TW in a sequel and thereby recreating an updated version of the adolescent joy people felt playing the first iteration gets a little overwhelming.

So whatever Rome: TW was for people I sincerely hope CA tears up that script and brings us something completely different this time.

That CA won't innovate enough because of fan's expectations about what a Rome game should be because of Rome: TW is my biggest fear. That and lack of mod support.

I'll have to agree on flaming pigs.

Boring siege/naval battles would be a bummer. AI being absolutely clueless as well.

And another quirk of mine: autoresolve should be better done this time.

A streamlined retraining feature would be nice as well.
"For myself, I would see the White Tree in flower again in the courts of the kings, and the Silver Crown return, and Minas Tirith in peace: Minas Anor again as of old, full of light, high and fair, beautiful as a queen among other queens; not as a mistress of many slaves, nay, not even a kind mistress of willing slaves. War must be, while we defend our lives against a destroyer who would devour all; but I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend: the city of the Men of Númenor, and I would have her loved for her memory, her ancientry, her beauty, and her present wisdom. Not feared, save as men may fear the dignity of a man, old and wise."

This is my biggest fear. Unfortunately not an option in the poll.
And the irony is that good modding can fix all the issues in the poll (well, maybe not the diplomacy one)

It is worrying that the developers want to make the game easier for the general public. Specially a game like this, which has so many hardcore fans willing to spend day and night conquering. I am also a little worried that 2013 is a little short, and that it will mean another bugfest etc. At least make it easier for modders for once!

Rome II being half-baked like Empire turned out to be. This is the first large-scale game they've made since then, and I hope CA is putting the proper amount of dev time in that a game like this needs.

But if you had to pick 3. Which ones would you choose?.

I know it's hard and we want to vote all, but the idea it's to make a kind of useful ranking of it.

    Not enough Campaign gameplay diversity.
    Not enough detail in factions
    Not enough unit diversity

And while not worried about Boring siege battles im probably gonna autoresolve most naval battles after the first few

Biggest fear is the lack of modability this game will suffer
