Default So after all this time ... no Rome mod

And now Rome 2 Total War is coming out, making any such efforts obsolete. I am very disappointed with you modders. You had 6 years to get your act together!

Meanwhile other teams were able to make Broken Crescent, Rusichi Total War (a huge graphics boost), total conversion mods set during The English Civil War, The Thirty Years War, LOTR, Warhammer.

So in the end, maybe CA won't have a surefire hit on their hands with Rome. For all the talk it looks like people actually just aren't that interested in Ancient warfare. After all, people made M2TW mods on just about every other era.

No, Rome 2 does not make Roman era mods for Medieval II obsolete. Believe it or not, some mod teams still make mods for Rome that are based on Medieval warfare. Did Medieval II stomp that dream into the dust? No. It most certainly did not.

And trust me, there are many people interested in Ancient Warfare. Have you seen how many have been calling out for Rome II and those that still play Rome I? Probably more play Rome: Total War than Shogun 2 or Empire. And yes, there are actually Rome mods out for Medieval II. But why does nobody remember Paeninsula Italica? Is it because it isn't what they had hoped for? Or what about Invasio Barbarorvm II? Is that not a mod for Medieval II based on the various conquests and the eventual Fall of Rome? Why are these mods not considered Roman era?

Now R2TW is coming out and there's no point releasing such a mod. If modders can't make a mod in 6 years!!!! since M2TW's release, and with M2TW's level of graphics, then what can be expected of a game with S2TW and nextgen graphics? The only TW mods that have taken off are those in the same era as their base games, i.e. just basic reskinning and rebalancing like Roma Surrectum or Stainless Steel, or made by ripping assets from other games like Call of Warhammer, The Sundering, Third Age Total War or Paeninsula Italica (ripping RTW units into M2TW for extra lulz). S2TW already has the mod support to edit units and campaign balance to make the next Stainless Steel and even has unwanted support like custom battlemaps! What more can you ask for?

I for one believe CA should focus on increasing the financing for their studio and expansion. I would gladly play $100 for each title or an extra $50 in DLC if CA used that money to release new TW games twice as fast! Imagine having R2TW and a Pike & Musket TW come out in the same year?
I dont think this person likes modders!

I wonder how many people would still be sticking their M2TW disc in their PC after 6 plus years if it hadn't been for the improvements the modder made to the game?

I don't think it's hatred, but rather misunderstanding of modding.

More than can be counted, my friend. Mods add to the longevity of a game; there's no doubt about that.

Anyways, this thread shall be closed as there are currently released Roman Mods for Medieval II (something of which I should've done when I first replied). If absolutely necessary, Houlahoup, pm me to reopen this thread.
