    Default Naval battles

    Since the beginning of TW navals battles, I am always a bit disapointed, it must be because I like them too much.

    I hope that we will see really good ramming with the flancks of the trireme destroyed, water going throw, slaves trying to escape to their fate etc. I hope boarding will be really improved, that a boat manage to break the oars, good animations for ships in flames etc. I would like to control at least 40 ships not ten like in Sh2 or Fots.

    What about the armies (if you have any on board) boarding the enemies ship. I know Romans were awesome at this.

    Don't worry be happy...CA will improve naval battles aspects somehow if not we will board them in their studio and make some damage...

    Apparently units in naval battles now contain more than 1 ship.

    I probably still won't play Naval battles. I hate playing them in ETW and NTW.

    There is so much potential to make them fantastic. I am eager to watch a preview of some sort.
    But I fear that the common arcade super fast turning and space physics will make less attractive.

    I hope there will be a lot of different aspects, like ramming, fire arrows, balistas, catapults, boarding ships and so on

    In my opinion, there needs to be more if possible.

    S2 naval battles for me were long and boring.

    Plus the first one who used fire arrows won automatically.

    They did mention in one of the interviews something about soldiers getting on and off ships, so hopefully they'll improve boarding.

    This preview said that there should be naval invasion/landing

    next year CA say:
    Sorry, not come.

    But I want see how this naval will looks. I hope see more differents fleets with special abilities. Some fleets have catapult or scopions as main cannon. RAMMING must be! Also I know, when enemies was boarding to enemy ship, they used a bridge to go to another ship. Totally agree with panzerschreck.

    By the sounds of it, there will be no naval battles in Rome 2.






























    Instead, they're going to lump everything - naval, siege and open battle into one huge glorious bloodstained whole!

    I am hoping terrain and landscape will play a big role, outcroppings, rocks etc to position ships in relation to

    can't wait to cut a ship in half with a trireme

    Ah man ramming in FotS was so satisfying. I can only imagine what it's like with Triremes doing it en masse

    It makes sense though.

    In the Roman era naval battles focused mainly on ships carrying infantry to board one another which resulted in mini-land battles at sea and then you got naval assaults like the Battle of Troy.

    Since ETW and FOTS perfected or at least got the naval down it only makese sense for Rome II to carry that into an actual naval invasion.

    But think about the computers though

    The naval battles are what's going to really define R2 IMO.

    this 3-5 units per "unit" thing has me a bit scared the game will be boring and yet they want to show first person view as well.
    I agree naval battles will define rome2. I have been waiting for them for 10yrs.

    Sail your ship as part of a fleet. Devs previously worked on: Darthmod, World of Warplanes, World of Tanks, RaceRoom, IL2-Sturmovik, Metro, STALKER and many other great games..

    Hopefully there will be a mod for the trojan war period. This naval-system in ROME 2 is perfectly made for this.
    Cant wait to see the gathering of Achaean forces including about 1200 ships with a total force of 70000-130000 men landing on the trojan coast and siege the trojan walls.
