We all know that Sega doesn't like the fact that we can get hundreds of hours out of our games. That's not good for business, after all. They want games that people play for ten hours, then forget about as soon as they release their next title.

If that's the case, I'll bet that we're going to see whole sections of the 'plot' blocked off as part of the DLC campaign. The basic game will let you play out the classic Julies Caesar storyline, but what if you want to preserve the Republic for a longer time? Well, why don't you buy our "SAVE THE REPUBLIC" DLC and lead the forces of Brutus to glory!

    Blah.
The 'Lead Designer' said "we don't want to limit people" he spoke about how the campaign should be the player making their own history. Watch the interview lol.

They also said that Empire would have revolutionary AI, historically accurate representations of factions and would give free blowjobs.

Really a new engine? If someone can confirm, then Rome2 is excellent news.

    Otherwise am worried...

I was just reading the article on the 1st page regarding walls, in my opinion City walls should be very hard to destroy.

Naval units now have more than one ship per unit.
So we have more than one ship per selected units
do you think this will be good?

I am becoming a bit anxious about that. It could turn out well, but I am afraid it gets rather messy and ships won't do what you want them to do etc...

    But let's wait and see

Maybe a naval unit will give you multiple ships in battle, and you can choose either to command those vessels as a whole unit or individually?

" Improved AI " will be amazing. They should make it a priority carefully connecting diplomacy to the campaign map AI, providing reason to events and making the AI more " human like", with their own goals and ambitions. This should be CA´s priority number 1. I would really like to see a complex and reasonable diplomatic system running Rome 2.

I liked the little information I gathered from the game so far. CA seems to be on the right track.

This is very bad IMO, it suggest civilization type of battle gameplay, instead of TW. Less control, more "cinematic"

but it is only for naval battle, but think of the epic views and thousands ships sailing to lay siege on a country (slight exaggeration ), oh the flash backs of Troy is coming back. So I am unsure, I think it would be cool as a massive battle perpective, but what if I just wanted a one ship battle, and I will have to have the other ship tag along. Unless they either add some option which I doubt or that they only have it on certain ships.

Anyway lets not dwell on the small things, more of excitement and more info of what is to be expected Wow I just really can't wait.!!!

A new interview article from Rock, Paper, Shotgun.

    http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012...e-total-war-2/

    Quoted the interesting points:

RPS: And AI in general I guess has become a bit of an albatross round the CA necks, at least in the perception of some. Do you feel they’ve had valid concerns or has it become an unfair accusation that you can’t shift no matter how hard you try?

CA’s PR: What is slightly galling is adopted perception as well – you can see conversations on forums, and someone can quite easily say ‘oh, the AI’s been since Empire’ or something like that, and it simply isn’t true. Especially with Shogun 2, so much work went into improvement, and even Napolean was a leap over Empire. It’s just people have a perceived perception. It’s like: here’s a thing I know about Total War, so I’m going to drop that into the conversation, without having actually played through the different iterations.
RPS: In your experience does it seem most of your audience are in it for single or multi-player?
JR: I think the core Total War experience generally is I think about playing your campaign. Lots of people play multi-player campaigns, that core single player deep strategy campaign experience is obviously the focus of the series. We’re looking at doing something different for multi-player. I guess that’s all we should say really.
RPS: Especially once the elephants get to do their thing. One more question: will there be incendiary pigs?
    JR: (laughs) Never say never.

Lol I like that, "perceived perception", how else could you do it?

I'm glad they aren't shifting the focus to multiplayer though. Wonder what they are planning for the mutiplayer campaign? RTS?

This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder.

Yeah I am also REALLY excited for the MP campaign. I just hope they have fixed everything now and I would be willing to wait longer if they need more time to make it flawless. Oh and perhaps they could let us play 4 player multiplayer campaign? that would be awesome. And let us give and demand regions!

Hey guys! Just read the preview in PC Gamer and thought I would share some quick highlights.

Rome 2 boast a new engine which enables full facial animation (e.g. close up of Scipio Aemilianus in the demo intro talking to the Senate)

Roman ships bustling with infantry who fidget, shuffle and hop about as they await the amphibious assault

No longer technical distinction between land and sea battles...one can lead to the other or they can both run concurrently

Players can follow the action from the view of a soldier in a certain unit (e.g. watching the ramp on a siege tower drop and charging onto the walls to fight the enemy)

One on one duels are longer and better than shogun 2...soldiers are killed because of mistimed lunges or faulty footwork instead of unforgiving battle maths

New tactical view for battles...pressing a key will zoom out to a kilometre square area of the field with positions identified by banners. It wont be possible to micromanage from this view.

Buildings in cities are worn...e.g. buildings chipped at the edges and marred with graffiti

Soldiers have battle scars and equipment will have a worn effect.

A highlight of the demo was when a roman catapult scored a direct hit on a defensive tower: the camera zooms in to watch it crumble and men tumble down with the rubble.

Technology can be introduced earlier than historically correct if the player chooses.

Much more fluid political system (e.g. choice between having a King or Republic etc.

That's about it in terms of info...most of it was just taking you through the demo, but there are a few new screenies...my personal favourite featured a roman soldier pushing an Carthaginian off a roof. Also there was one of a Roman ship ramming an enemy vessel and breaking it in two as well as a Roman siege tower being struck by a flaming catapult shot and starting to crumble with the rest of the Roman army around it.

Sorry if this info is useless but I thought someone might find it interesting

I'm not sure if anybody posted the screenshots of the Dutch PC Gameplay Summer Special. It's a 4 page article in Dutch.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Would it be wanted that I translate the whole article or you guys think it's probally the same as other online articles? Cause it'd take me quite a while to translate everything into english.

If the moderators rather not have these posted, please let me know, I'll remove them.
