I just googled your Aspire... it looks similar to my Acer TM which runs M2TW pretty well. The main difference seems to be your u3400 cpu, which I read is "only sufficient for non demanding applications."

Still, if it's only battles that are causing problems then try setting "Unit Detail" to the lowest setting. This will increase the number of sprites used in battles (i.e. more 2d and less 3d rendering), which might help. Also make sure you son't have loads of unnecessary software running in the background while you're playing.

Let us know how it goes.

What Sicknero said and Intel HD graphics chips were never made for 3d gaming along with it only has the miminum graphics memory.

Turn your monitor resolution down to 1024 x 768, small unit size, and no eyecandy. You may get lucky.

My Acer TM has the integrated Intel HD. Can't speak for the ''Aspire' in the OP, but mine uses "dynamic memory allocation" ... basically the GPU uses whatever system RAM is spare. Sounds a little dodgy I know, but actually it works surprisingly well. RTW and M2TW run amazingly well, I've not tried ETW or Napoleon yet, but I'm tempted

(conversely I think that having x64 helps a lot. I notice that the system in the OP is x86.)

I have not given it any real thought but it could have an impact on the way memory is allocated. X64 is more effecient then x86 but he only has 2gb of ram to start with.

The only real options would be a "gaming" laptop but be aware of the specs or build a gaming desktop.

Irishron is right, if you've tried with all the M2TW graphics settings on lowest, and it still doesn't run, then there's nothing more you can do with the laptop you have.
I googled your CPU, apparently it runs at 1.06ghz, so what with that and the Intel graphics, I just don't think your Aspire is up to running the game, sorry to say.
There's a website called 'canirunit' or something like that, go there and it will tell you what chance you have of running various games.

Regarding new hardware, upgrading a laptop can be very expensive and fiddly so if you really want to get into gaming I'm afraid your only option is to get a better machine. 3-400 would get you something adequate, but be sure to do your homework before splashing out, i.e. make sure it will do what you want it to.
Software, sadly no, there's nothing that would fix this for you. Beware though, as there are a lot of programs that will imply that they can. The truth is that no software in the world can make a computer any better than it was when new and if it's well cared for and properly configured.

Still, no need to take my word for all this... try the CanIRunIt website, read the reviews re your Aspire, and I expect there are plenty of forum discussions elsewhere concerning your particular machine.
    Good luck.
