Long story short; whenever I ran the Shogun 2 benchmarking-tool with every graphical setting maxed out on my previous computer, I would get an average of around 59-61 FPS, which isn't bad at all. Problem is; actual gameplay experience would rarely be that good.

Having very recently bought a new computer, I installed Shogun 2, maxed-out all the graphical settings and ran the Benchmark again. Imagine how distraught I was to discover that the average FPS now lay at around 47 FPS! Performance had, it seemed, actually gone down!

Once I tried a few Historical Battles, however, it turned out that Shogun 2 now actually runs significantly better than before, all across the board. The one exception would be the "Osaka Castle" Historical Battle in FotS, which runs horribly for some reason. (No idea what causes that. All the other "Historical Battles" I tried ran fine.) The Campaign Map also runs great, and so do the Naval Battles once I've disabled SLI.

In other words, we have a situation where the Benchmark used to give me an unrealistically high "Average FPS", and now gives me an unfairly low "Average FPS". What gives? One theory I have, is that it looks like the FPS now drops by a few digits when I move the camera. (Not sure.) This might go some way to explain why the Benchmark gives such a low score - the camera moves practically all the time.
