Planning & background-building for the restart

So, the restart's in three days (counting today). I think it's wiser to begin at least mapping out a backstory for & an outline (prospective list, just names & maybe ages, nothing complex) of our characters, and find where (if anywhere) they should link together, now, before we actually post their char profiles, so as to avoid confusion & any waste of time on Reset Day. For example, if the Arryns wish to have an uncle married to a Lannister, such planning should be done before the restart. Or maybe a Hoare killed the Starks' grandpa, again that should be determined before the reset goes ahead & the char profiles are posted. Though this can easily be done over PM, you can, of course, publicly voice requests for background character/familial links here and the like if you want, that's what this thread is for after all

On top of that, this thread is where we should begin filling in the gaps in the lore. GRRM largely left this time period blank, with the Rhoynar Invasion being the only major event really. So we have to hammer out the backstory (including years, the more specific the better) for stuff like 'when did the Ironborn conquer their part of the Riverlands/the Arbor/Bear Island', 'what's the story with the Dornish kingdoms so far', 'how long have Stark & Bolton been killing each other', 'what's the story with the Stormlands', etc. Again, this is stuff that's best done & set in stone before the reset goes ahead, so as to not waste time later.

I'll begin with an outline of my own char set at game start, unlikely to change barring major continuity issues or something like that:

Can we start on tuesday?? I work a 12 hour shift sunday night, so I wanna collect and gather my info and negotiate my backstory for then. I can't do it tonight but I can complete it all on sunday night for incorporation to the story line on monday. So by tuesday it will have been updated and included into our general storyline

For fun last week I spent a good hour planning my past kings, from circa 1,200 bal, until 700 bal. With reasons for death, ages, and adjective titles

I haven't completely done the current family yet, but tomorrow I can at work. Can we have reset tuesday??? One extra day won't hurt

I suspect we'll be too busy writing up our char profiles in full (presuming we aren't overachievers who haven't done that already...

) and mostly getting established on Monday to do that much RP, much less military movements and the like, so even if you were to put up your profiles Tuesday it'd make no difference.

I myself will be rather busy Tuesday (I'll see how much time I can get on here, no promises though), so I'd prefer a Monday start myself.

What do you want as your sigil Aggy? I chose the name Styrmhart as Hart is another word for stag, and the sigil of the Storm Kings was the same as that of the Baratheons (black stag on a field of gold), so as a different branch of the family you may want to go for something similar (black stag on green?)

Black stag on green would make sense, given the forests. Hmm, not sure. Maybe black stag on green and blue or green and white?

Maybe a white stag on dark green? White's representative of both the mist & white stags are considered rare & majestic, after all.

Uy vey.... I've been trying to do that, Barry, and while I at first thought recolouring the stag was hard, the motto colouring is a DOOZY.

You should also think about your House words - again, the Styrmhart's are the same as the Baratheon's, "Ours is the Fury" if you want to work off of that somehow.

There have been people asking if we need help with heraldry, maybe see if they can help?
