Default RS taught me a new way to play Total War.

The battles in RS are beyond amazing, They really feel like real battles. Thank you modders for this! I've spent whole weeks playing whenever I have time.

I love the way guard mode is actually effective like it should be especialy with Legionary cohorts, Whenever I try this in normal rtw or medieval 2 I take alot more losses than I would if I simply went with attack mode which is really sad.

My standard tactic when playing Rome is to hold the line, Guard mode keeps my soldiers in a "Fresh" state while the enemy gets exhausted. When they are exhausted I make my moves, Send in my reserves to flank together with abit of Cav, And once I realise the enemy are crumbeling, I remove guard mode on all my soldiers effectively causing a mass massacre, It's glorious!

I should also mention that everything else with the mod is amazing aswell not only the battles, And the ammount of history on unit tabs.. It's stunning so much that I would recommend history students to play RS.

Hmm, I don't know, I try to do the whole guard mode until the enemy is exhausted thing too, but I find that barbarians are really good at mauling legionaries one by one, for example the Dacians. Of course it could also be because they have silver weapons, silver armor, and some experience as well...
