    Default Quick question about culture penalty and buildings

    Hey guys,

    Was wondering, how do u guys deal with the culture penalty? Do you destroy all the buildings or some of the buildings? I've always destroy buildings but I've been rethinking it's such a waste. Can you upgrade another faction's building? If so, does that change the building's culture?

    Another quick question, is it best to build tax buildings or trade buildings?

    I have always destroyed Temples as they contribute most to culture, however I've stopped doing that for the 'base' one (Jupiter in the Romans case) and the Tribal Justice if they are available to upgrade soon.

    I often destroy the first level of Tax as that gives a big boost to making those poor benighted and just conquered people more co-operative.

    Other than that I destroy those buildings that are peculiar to the culture (Colonies, Barracks, Wine, etc).

    The first Governor is normally one with High Influence and with suitable Retinue/Ancillaries to get things settled down and move out the General & Legion quickly.

    I normally destroy everything that can be destroyed in the settlement and then rebuild it up.

    I destroy tax buildings, barracks and buildings that don't give any benefits for my culture.I upgrade everything else (if possible, if not I keep the building).

    Tryed many many many many strategies for the Romans (other fractions don't have this problem as much), from going full law to full tier suburbs, -- or a combination etc.

    In the end i stopped doing all of that. Now i assign a legion accompanied by 5-7 spy's to a specific region like Greece;

    - If region+max tax+3 allied skirmishers = yellow = remove garrison, let it rebel and slaughter the population.

    Usually once is enough for them to get the message

    Why do you slaughter if the city is yellow with 3 skirmishers? You're losing population/tax income needlessly if you do that.

    Indeed, if a Governor and 1 unit aren't enough - then there's something wrong!

    So, just because the senator i've known and trusted for years is now 80, has a depression or two and the plebs generally don't like him i should make him leave his home he's come to know and love?

    No. Not even for Jupiter himself. They should bare it or find another city, if not....
