FALL OF THE SAMURAI:
I don't know if this is already general knowledge but here goes.
I found out that, after you've won a naval engagement(only when remaining enemy ships are routing), you can "use" the repair ability to "refill the hull strength" back to 100%, thus saving a lot on repair expenses back at the port.
Refitting lost cannons and crew only seem to cost from my experience 200-300koku. It's the "hull strength" value that costs ~80% of the repair back at the port.
I sometimes stick ships with red-line health that's 1 broadside away from exploding into my fleet, then when a battle starts, i just leave them at the back and click "repair" while my main ships attack. when they return to port, repairing them costs only 200-300koku(not sure if its game difficulty dependent).
If you're a player who wants to capture routing ships instead of repairing, you can position a gunboat on the "expected" routing path, while your battle line repairs.
/tick.
