Default Shogun 2 - Video card dying?

Hello, so I was finaly able to play after i fixed the crashes. ( deleted steam reinstalled steam simple... WOW) (steam was the problem that causes my crash... bad steam bad)

But anyway, so I've been playing about 2-3hours so far, games was good. My settings are on high to ultra with medium resolution.
however, last time i played about 2hours straight, went into a seige and my game had like 1-2FPS persecond... Idk whats going on, so i exit that game and tried a custom one, still 1-2fps even the background was going slow. I had to restart computer to get the FPS back to 40-60+
the same thing kind of happened again, except the fps was around 20-25 but still quite slow, and when i restart my PC the FPS would jump back to 60+

Is this a hint my graphics card maybe dying? I had it almost 2years now.
My card is a GTX 465.
And if it is dying what card would be a reasonable upgrade?
I was looking at the GTX560TI fermi for 230 i think
please let me know thanks all.

Or is it just the game doing it to you? It seems many players gripe about dropping fps.

Your Graphic card is good! But be sure that your graphic card has 2048 MB VRAM or more! Use the Tool GPU-Z to look how much Ram the game use and how much the load is from your Graphic card! If you use Multisample anti-aliasing its more for tweaked for AMD Cards (Use AMD Shader code for Multisample anti-aliasing! Your Cpu is important, too! Use Intel CPUs with High clock speed like 3,5 Ghz and higher to boost your FPS!

Well I play the game on my Htpc on a AMD A8-3870K with a Graphic card AMD HD 6550D inside the CPU! My Graphic card has his own 2048 MB VRAM from my 8192 MB RAM! I can play Shogun 2 on all Ultra Settings on a screen resolution 1920x1080 (Full HD) with my Mods that give me the same Image Quality like I would play the game with no mods on maximum Settings! The game runs very fine & smooth and on close combat, too! Its amazing how good the game runs!

I like how you dont use period instead its exclamtion mark !

But yea, I run the game at max settings with high resolution very smooth too, but i tone it down because my battles are very big i dont want any small lag.
Problem is FPS starts to get lower after hours of play im not 100% sure yet if this happens again and again I might need to find a fix.

What's your OS, RAM and CPU?
Maybe get MSI-Afterburner to make sure your card is not overheating (coolers fans might need cleaning) and check the GPU frequency.
Also, when you experience the slowdown, take a look into Windows task manager and check whether there is any other application which utilizes the CPU or disk (a virus could do this as well).

But be sure that your graphic card has 2048 MB VRAM or more!
That's not needed anymore since the FOTS patch because they reduced the VRAM usage quite a bit.
