It has been close to a decade since the Allobroges invasion and their subjugation by the Roman Consul, Maximinius Atilius Regulus. While many were slaughtered and more sold into slavery, a good number remained in the Proconsulate of Gallia, scattered to ensure a good monitoring of their activities. For almost a decade, the Allobroges lived in humiliation and defeat. However, one would appear as charismatic and proud as their former chieftain, a man by the name of Agrippa, a self-proclaimed name. He would rise up as a powerful individual...and plan a revolt. In the year 85 BC, it began. Pockets of Allobroges rose up and joined together in a massive host numbering 30,000 strong. Their numbers were great and their hearts fierce...but they were not armed to the teeth like real Gauls.
At Massalia, Maximinius gather Legio XVIII Gemina Firma as well as Legio XVIII Regulus and Legio XIX Gallia Maximinus with an additional 1,500 Senatorial cavalry. Word of Legate Licinius and Legio XVI Gallica with 200 archers and 600 cavalry had just entered the boundaries of the Proconsulate of Gallia. Maximinius would order his troops to march to join with Legio XVI and find a defensive position to camp in order to gain knowledge of the situation at large. It was time to put the fear of Rome back into the Gaul's heads.

Roman scouts stumble upon the fortified Gallic camp in Aquitania V. Unfortunately, several are captured by the Gauls on their way back to the Roman encampment. Those that do make it back report the location and composition of the rebel army.
Agrippa stares at disgust as he is presented with the prisoners. He orders the beheading of all but two scouts, binding them to a large bulky pole planted in the middle of the town square for all to humiliate the two. As for the heads of the scouts, they were planted on spikes just outside of the walls.
Without bothering to scout the area or find out where the Roman army is, Agrippa orders 7,600 light infantry, 3,550 heavy infantry, and 2,850 skirmishers east into Nabonensis III. None of the men question their chieftain, and are somewhat surprised when they discover from some locals that the entire Roman army is just miles away. Roman sentries have already reported the incursion.
The Allobroge force approached the Roman army from the east, somewhat terrified at being severely outnumbered. They pressed on, though, because their leader had a plan and it seemed like a good plan. Taking advantage of the minutes it take the Romans to organize themselves, the majority of the rebels begin advancing through the thick forest towards the Roman left flank. This left Chieftain Agrippa and his bodyguard, along with just 200 spearmen, marching on the path to the Roman camp.
Once the legions form up, Proconsul Maximinus rides bodly to the front of his army, bearing the banner of the former Allobroge chieftain Dumnorix. The Gauls paused in surprise, wondering what this crazy Roman was doing, riding around pretending to be a dead Gallic warlord. Maximinus proceeded to shout about Dumnorix's lack of manhood, then promptly pissed on the banner while insulting the chieftain's mother. The legionaries joined him (not in the pissing though -- it's hard to fit thousands of men around one banner), and the proconsul returned to the rear when his bladder was fully emptied.
The enraged Gauls charged, the ones who had been hiding in the forest included. Agrippa tried to restore some kind of order to his force, but the men couldn't hear him over their own warcries. Roman arrows and pila cast a shadow over the Gauls; the last thing many of them would see. The effects of thousands of Roman missiles left the attackers decimated by the time they reached the Roman lines, which had already turned to face the once-hidden main force. The 200-man "bait" unit lay dead already.
Roman cavalry thundered from the flanks, cutting down enemy slingers from the rear and sides. The legions advanced in an attempt to encircle the enemy, but finally the Gauls listened to their Chieftain and many of the surviving warriors began to retreat. They were chased down by the Roman horsemen.
Chieftain Agrippa survives, along with a handful of his troops, mainly skirmishers who fled the initial cavalry charge. They retreat back to the main camp in Aquitania V.
Roughly a thousand Gauls surrender or are taken prisoner.
Maximinius rides onto the bloodied battlefield. A glorious victory...less than two thousand losses compared the many thousands the Gauls lost. He looks at the banner of the former chieftain that he had pissed on. The Proconsul orders it to be burned. Legate Licinius approaches the Proconsul as Maximinius dismounts.
Your orders, Proconsul?
Reform our ranks and prepare to march in the direction of their retreat. We will camp along the Aquitania V border. I don't want to give this renegade any pause.
Licinius salutes his superior and heads off. The Roman horns were heard as they reformed their ranks, preparing to march. Maximinius approached the Gauls captured and gazed upon them.
I have a proposition for you all...in exchange for some information.

Maximinius got all the information he needed from the Gauls (Rolls done prior to Napo leaving). He executed the captives who did not cooperate. He organized his fully replenished and reinforced legions for their march towards the rebel's location. The Proconsul had another idea to end it...once and for all.

A man comes riding towards the Romans. And shouts.
Romans I want words with your general!
The legions were prepared to march with their cavalry scouting the nearby area. A contubernia (8 man squad) escorts the man to the Proconsul who is being dressed for battle. Legate Licinius of Legio XIV Gallica steps in and presents the man. Maximinius looks at Gaul before walking up to his desk, his gaze locked upon the male.
You say you have words for me, Gaul. Speak them and be quick about it.

OOC: We did the captives thing in PMs, so that's resolved. Also there is no Narbonensis V; if you mean Aquitania V (the one all the way to the west), you're already there.
Maximinius' eyebrow goes up slightly at these words. The Proconsul stands up to his full height as the Roman strokes his beard.
You request surrender? Your people will not be harmed...however, you must agree to these terms. You will surrender your weapons at the front of the camp and your chieftain, the self proclaimed Agrippa, will bend his knee to me as a representative of Rome. He will be taken to Rome where he will be tried for treason against the Republic. I will not harm your people...and they will be allowed to return to their homes, however Agrippa must come forth and accept the crimes he will face in Rome.
Maximinius keeps his eyes upon the Gaul.
Will you accept these terms?

Maximinius glances at Licinius who nods and walks out of the tent. The contubernia steps forward now.
Then bring forth your host to surrender their weapons...and they will be granted immunity. I will keep my word as long as you keep yours, Agrippa. Legionnaires, escort this man out of my tent and give him food.
The Proconsul waves his hand as the legionnaires then escort Agrippa out of the tent.

The legions oversaw their surrender and had the rebels depart in different groups for their home. Agrippa was locked in a cage and escorted to Rome by Legate Licinius and a detachment of senatorial cavalry where he would stand trial in Rome. Maximinius remained in the region to oversee the distribution of the surrendered foe and to pacify the area to ensure peace within the Proconsulate of Gallia.
